Food was good, but not the best. The food is way over priced. Bibimbop on the stone bowl was 13.95. I would not come here again, just because the price was overrated. FYI they will not let you cook yourself unless you buy two or more items of raw beefs… etc…

Where to start: service was terrible. We had a party of 10 and were told we weren’t allowed to bbq and the kitchen had to cook the meat. Nobody told us what the sides were. They first deliver d these unknown sides to the wrong people. The waiter kept apologizing. One of our party never ate as they never brought her pancake despite multiple attempts to ask for it. The sides were average the meat okay. I wouldn’t go back. Ever. Food terrible and service even worse.

Service is terrible. Asked for napkins and chopsticks 5 times. Had to ask for fork 5 times. People that were seated after us were already all eating. After an hour we still don’t have any food. On top of the crappy service they have the nerve to give us attitude. Save yourself the grief and go somewhere else. I will not be tipping at all. And coming from me… That says ALOT! I don’t even want to leave one star!

Best korean food in town in my opinion, I love bibimbap, and the bulgogi baekban jungol was excellent, truly embodies the authentic taste of korean cuisine. I asked the owner and he told me the interior was built 13 years ago– despite its age, it has been very well kept and intricately designed. The quality of meat was great and I found the prices to be reasonable. The owner was also very friendly and courteous. I will definitely go back again.

古宮 Go Gung Korean BBQ Coquitlam in Westwood Plateau is one of the better Korean restaurants. This Korean restaurant is one of the cleanest. The interior space is bright and open with water wheel fountain and stonewall dividers. Service is friendly and prompt. The drive is a little far for you Vancouverites. It is even a bit of a trek for me up the mountain in Coquitlam. More importantly, it has one of the best meat quality. Although prices are above average, you get what you pay for. The grills are not typical Korean barbecue grill pan. Go Gung uses open grill. This is better because the oil will not burn on the plate with you meat on top. Korean Seafood Pancake | Haemul Pajeon: Traditional veggie and seafood pancake with morsels of squid, octopus, shrimp. Mixed with a little batter, some scallions and a little dipping sauce and you have yourself a Korean pizza. Served on a hot pan. The sauce is sweet with a hint of spiciness. The dish is filling and good for any hungry party. Soft Tofu Soup | Soondooboo: is a hot and spicy Korean stew made with tofu, veggies, mushrooms, onions, scallions and chili power. A soft poached egg. This soup is perfect for cold nights and is true comfort food. Korean sides | banchan: everyday it is different. But typically it consists of sweet potatoes, kimchi, seaweed, and bean sprouts. My favorite side dish at Go Gong is their potato salad. It is slightly sweet. I can never get enough.

Not the best, not the worst. The location is SUPER convenient for me, located in the Westwood Plateau Village, and the view is absolutely spectacular. The service here leaves a lot to be desired. A LOT. Water, tea and paid drinks often go unfilled and no one even cares to ask if you want another. The food is decent. I’ve had better, and I have definitely had worse. However, for the prices at Go Gung, the food should be out of this world. I mean if I am going to cook my own food, it better be damn good for $ 35+ per person… This place ONLY gets 3 stars because it is within 10 minutes walking distance from home. Meaning, I don’t need to worry about having a few wobbly pops. I’ll probably be back only for its convenience.

I’ve been here a few times, with the most recent being last night. The interior is lovely, and definitely makes good atmosphere. Most times I’ve been there the restaurant wasn’t too crowded, and the service was pretty fast and efficient. Previously we’ve done our own cooking on the table grill, but this time I went with my friend and her parents, and they didn’t want to deal with the smell so we ordered bibimbap, kalbi, bulgogi, a seafood pancake, and a hot pot that included beef and octopus. For the most part, the food was pretty good. I’m not the biggest fan of bulgogi, but otherwise everything was hot and fresh, and well-cooked. The rice in the bibimbap was a bit on the dry side, but otherwise good. The kalbi was cooked very well, and the seafood pancake was also perfectly done. The meal comes with four side dishes — seaweed, korean potato salad, kimchi, and soybeans, all of which were good. One of the details that knocked the experience down a star was that one entire section of the menu was unavailable, which we weren’t aware of until they went to order. Overall, however, a decent experience and worth going back.

They are pricey but their food is good. Nice interior decorations & location(awesome view as well) It is especially nice when you go in the summer and you get patio seating — very nice to dine outdoors in the cool air while looking down at glimmering Coquitlam. Their prices are on the high side, and their food quality has been declining teensy bit over the years Servers are much better and attentive compared to other Korean/Asian restaurants in general They used to have the best Naeng Myun in the area(cold noodles) but it’s been changing for some reason. Also they have the best Den Jang Jji Gae(Soy bean paste soup. comes with the meat menus. If you order galbi, ask for this — it’s free) It used to be a 4 star place(it isn’t breathtaking, but I am one of the regulars there.) but the prices are just a bit too much considering how much Korean restaurant nearby cost.

Go Gung Korean BBQ is just minutes away from our house and its become a place for us to frequent when I need to my tofu soup fix. The restaurant has been in the strip mall up by Westwood Plateau for 8+ years now. The first time there, we ordered the Korean BBQ combo for 4 people — we had 4 adults and 2 small kids. Definitely not enough food. We’ve started to frequent the restaurant regularly again after we found they’ve got the best tofu soup locally. Its very good but there are only 2 to chose from… but very good still. Like to tofu soup, the Korean condiments are great, kim chi being my favorite! The tofu soup is awesome here but still a little pricer than other Korean restaurants. My kids favourite is the beef bulbogi noodles and plain old beef bulbogi. Waiters are very attentive and will come. Décor is very authentic and its definitely a Korean owned restaurant. The next time your there, look above the door — right hand corner for a dried fish hanging from rope. Not sure what that means but it must bring good luck. Very spacious restaurant! BTW, the owners are very accommodating. I accidentally left my credit card at the restaurant. I callled the restaurant at 10:00pm but they were already closed so I called the after hours phone number. The owned answered and meet me at the restaurant so he can return my credit card to me. Because of this, I will definitely continue to frequent the restaurant.

I took a take out menu to check out the prices. I came back and boy was I surprised with the 30 dollar price hike in the real menu. The portions were really small, the service was pretty crummy. Way too hyped. If someone knows any good Korean food in coquitlam please let my know cause Insadong has scaled back too.

* Came highly recommended — went highly disappointed * Ok, so this place came highly recommended as having the best kalbi in the Vancouver area. So I had to try. The restaurant is located in a suburban strip mall with a supermarket, cafes, banks, etc. It is on top of a little hill with a little bit of a view out the back. It is very clean and decorated similarly to some restaurants I have visited in Korea. The kalbi is priced towards the upper end for Vancouver establishments around $ 24 per serving(which has 2 strips). It took a while to get a waitress to take an order, but eventually got the order in. Then I sat. And sat. And sat. It took about 25 minutes for the raw kalbi to come out of the kitchen. I’m always amazed when it takes a long time for raw meat to make it from the kitchen to the table. But somehow it did. It arrived with a measly 4 different banchan(kimchi, potato salad, marinated seaweed, and soybeans), a small plate of lettuce and that was it. I asked for some rice, which they brought about 5 minutes later. The banchan were not particularly impressive(and neither was the limited selection). Several of them were overly salted. The rice, when it arrived, was also not the best in quality. The kalbi was highly variable. One strip was, in fact, one of the best pieces of kalbi I’ve had in the Vancouver area. It was perfectly marbeled so that it remained juicy after cooking and was very tender. The marinade was also spot on. Sadly the other strip was gristly, chewy, and as if it came from a different restaurant! So no consistency here overall. So I’d give 1 strip of kalbi a 5, 1 strip of kalbi a 2 for an overall kalbi rating of 3.5, and then I’ll give the banchan and service a 2 for an overall average that I’ll round down to 2. This just isn’t worth the drive out there, nor the price they charge for such a non-consistent product.
