BC Furnace & Air Conditioning Ltd

I have utilized the services of this company for many years but obviously things have changed. Our furnace was still operating and would heat the house but would shut off after several hours of operation. An error code would appear showing the problem and the computer system would then restart the furnace after a three hours which is exactly what was suppose to happen. When the technician attended, he inspected the furnace and provided a quote for repairs that he felt were needed. He later attended and did the repairs but the furnace failed within an hour of him leaving with the same error codes showing that occurred before he did the work. After advising BC Furnace of this problem, a second technician came out, did some tests and then adjusted the gas valve which has fully corrected the original problem. After several attempts to reach the owner of this company. I was finally able to reach Mr Vardy by phone at which time he stated that after speaking to his employees and reviewing the work orders, he was satisfied that all the work performed, was needed although he could not provide a satisfactory explanation why the same error codes came on and after the most recent work that cost over $ 900 had been done. I summarized all of the work that had been done by his company over the last 5 years and concerns relating to the latest recommendation by the last technician who attended. He indicated that additional work, over and above what had just been done was needed. The second technician was now recommending that the gas valve that he had just adjusted and the fan motor should be replaced. I outlined my concerns to Mr Vardy as the additional repairs seemed questionable at best considering that the furnace had worked fine for the last week and the fan motor had been replaced by the manufacturer under warranty only a few years earlier. At this point his only response was to state that our conversation was over and suggested I seek the services of another furnace repair provider. These last comments in my opinion, are the only thing that made any sense during our entire conversation and one that I will be more that happy to follow as I will never utilizes the services of this company again. My suggestion to anyone considering using BC Furnace for any repairs is to obtain a second opinion before authorizing and then having the work done.

So unprofessional and unknowledgeable of their craft. You’d be better off going to a local trades college and having a first year student work on your furnace. Rude, late, disappointing doesn’t even begin to describe the experience with this hack company. I’ll never use them again.

I have mixed feelings about my experience with this company.
We installed central air conditioning. Initially, we were impressed by salesman George’s willingness to come to our home to do the consultation and draw up the paperwork. We asked for a nominal discount, since we were paying everything at once and they agreed. Installation was done efficiently and professionally. The crew even went as far as apologizing for the use of copper straps on the exterior of our house, which is light grey and white, to attach the wiring that had to run halfway around the outside. They weren’t provided with any other materials to work with. The crew recommended we call head office to request different clips that would match the house much better.
We called George back and asked. He said he would call us back the next day. We received no call. After a number of days of tracking him down, the excuse we got we was the manager wasn’t available, so he didn’t call us back. He also claimed that we were the first customers to «complain», which we feel is out-​of-​line considering he guaranteed they will do all finishing to our satisfaction. Then contractor Frank contacted us later that day to tell us he’d call early next week to arrange a time. He also said no one needed to be home for this work, which we understood. We didn’t hear from him. After a week of waiting, we talked to the manager, who said he would get Frank to call us back. We heard nothing. We finally appealed to the ladies who worked in the office — Corinne and Joy — who tracked down Frank, who now claimed he didn’t call because «we didn’t have be home for the work to be done.»
In the end, we finally got those copper straps replaced with something that looks more consistent with the outside of the house. It took the company a month to do this simple job after we first, paid in full, second had their guys repeatedly blow us off, and third, appealed to their administrative team for help.
Everything works great. Unfortunately, the longer we waited, the less satisfied we became. The key message: do not sign off or pay anything until you receive *everything*. We’d like to score this company higher, but just can’t. I would not recommend this company just based on the crappy follow through.

Our 20 year old Furnace started making a disturbing clunking noise about two weeks ago but still gave us heat until this morning (Sunday of a 3 day weekend). I called BC Furnace about 10AM and was told someone could come between 1 & 2. He detailed the charges and said based on my description he expected it to be a simple job of less than one hour. About noon he called to confirm someone was on their way. The technician (George) knew the problem, and replaced the ‘ignition module’ (not cheap, but it looks like an expensive part and he had it in his van) and was finished within an hour.
Since I am warm & happy, and everything was as I was told it would be I am giving them a perfect score. I had called someone else when the problem started and described it– that person said he knew the furnace and expected it might be difficult to get to where the problem was, so I decided to delay fixing it since it was still working (I am not blaming them as my description would not have been perfect– but I did decide to try these people today).

Wish I could give this no stars. Called up and said that my furnace wasn’t working and they said they could be out the same day. The technician arrived and my 19 year old daughter showed him where the furnace was, which is in a closet. There was one box of floor tile that weighed about 15 lbs that was sitting in in the closet and was in the way of the furnace. He informed my daughter that he wasn’t there to move stuff out of the way of the furnace. My daughter offered to move the tile and called me to let me know what was going on. He must have heard me complain to my daughter that it couldn’t be a big deal to move one box of tile as the technician left and told her we could get someone else to fix the furnace.
