The restaurant called La Berangerie which is associated with café Boheme is to be visited only as a last alternative. The owners have seemingly quit caring. The service was less than professional, the food was lacklustre and over cooked, and the wine list was an embarrassment or would have been to anyone who cared… and the whole thing was over priced. Add to that the insult of automatically requesting a tip as well as charging a premium for the use of a credit card, and the whole experience just left a bad taste. Never again.

In the back of the fancy dinner restaurant called La Berengerie, is a little bohemian outdoor café(yes, even if it’s raining). You sit under a patio decorated with decorative draped fabric and sit on cushions placed on patio chairs. There is a lovely fireplace with real wood to keep you warm if the weather is cool. It was raining when we got there and the chalkboard had 4 options for dinner, plus a dessert. Our choices were Thai Green Curry, Indian Tali, Phad Thai or Lasagna. Dessert was caramel custard. All carefully homemade and presented beautifully. The chef is the same one that prepares the meals for the fancy restaurant up front, but at less than half the price. We had the Thai Green Curry and the Indian Tali which I can’t rave enough about… so, so very good! Don’t miss this little gem of the island, whatever you do!
