History

Established in 1992.

The Edge is a privately owned company formed in 1992 by Neil Scott and is currently located in the CTV Television building in the west end of the city of Calgary. We are a marketing/​communications agency that focusses on the creation and distribution of video to specific targeted audiences.

Initially formed as a broadcast videography/​cinematography company, The Edge continues to provide location shooting for broadcasters, governments, corporations and production companies worldwide.

In 2003, The Edge expanded its operations to include full production services, with a focus on the corporate/​educational video production market. Our customers include Shell Canada, Shell International, Syngenta Canada Inc and Alberta Health Services. Many of the videos we create require us to acquire footage in other countries and often our videos are shown to international audiences. In 2011, The Edge added live video production and webcasting services.

Meet the Business Owner

Neil S.

Business Owner

Neil is a hands-​on producer, creative director and technical director. He has managed multiple projects concurrently with diverse team members such as: corporate communicators, senior leadership, content creators, creative and technical staff and contractors. His passion for creating internal systems to manage timelines, budget, scope, quality and stakeholder visions have been instrumental in helping creative people deliver great work, on time and on budget.

Neil is passionate about mentoring his staff and sharing his industry knowledge with others. In 2011, Neil was invited to be a volunteer industry advisor to the broadcast program at Mt. Royal University and continues to enjoy each opportunity to contribute to the program.

Neil’s company, The Edge Communications Inc, produces video content for a wide variety of organizations and businesses such as CTV Television, Alberta Health Services, Shell International, and Syngenta Canada Inc.
