The Cat House is a cat specialty store — a unique blend of pet shop for cats and gift store for cat lovers. We carry a wide assortment of decorative, practical, whimsical, classical and humorous cat-related gift items for people, as well as everything needed to care for or pamper a cat. Opened in Calgary, Alberta in 1991, and now triple our original size, we are the largest and oldest cat specialty store in Canada. We are very thankful to have many loyal customers.

History

Established in 1991.

The Cat House Inc is a cat specialty store in Calgary where cat lovers can find everything they need for their cat, as well as a wide variety of cat related gift items for people all in one convenient, friendly, helpful location. Starting out at 632 square feet, we soon doubled, then tripled the size of our store… and need to expand again as we are bursting at the seams. We are the oldest and largest cat specialty store in Canada. We actively support cat rescue groups in the area through fundraisers and donations. We also provide our signature products, honeysuckle wood toys, to help rescue groups raise funds.

As a cat lover I decided to open a cat specialty store to make it easier for people to find cat related merchandise all in one convenient stop. There are so many wonderful products for cats that are available but because so many pet stores are dog focused they are not always easy to find. My job is to source out the best cat products and to help the customer choose what is best for their particular cat.

The staff is rude. We were standing looking at some items and one of the staff literally said «get out of my way» horrible location. a lot of over priced crap you can get anywhere else for cheaper.

The Cat House has been a favorite shop of mine for as long as I can remember. The staff are friendly and very knowledgeable and the store is stocked with just about anything you could ever need or think of for kitty care and entertainment. In addition to being a great business The Cat House is also a fantastic contributor to it’s community in that they support various rescue organizations as well. The Stadium Plaza where they are located is set for a massive overhaul and I hope that the store will continue through that process. In the mean time this will continue to be a regular stop for me for kitty supplies as well as a friendly encounter with their lovely staff.

Cute store name, friendly staff and lots of choice for your pet. Huge space and you will always get a hello when you walk in!
I get my cats’ Science Diet here and stock up when I am in the area.
The prices are more than fair.
There are 2 huge tabby cats that live here in the store and really are living a good life! Usually sleeping in the daytime of course but makes my day a little brighter to see them!

I was extremely disappointed at the misleading name of this store. Needless to say I was completely surprised when I walked in and found all this silly cat stuff all over… Not was I was expecting at all! False advertising if you ask me!
But seriously I went in looking for something for my sister’s cat and was welcomed and treated very nicely by the staff. Cats creep me out so I didn’t stay for long but the store seemed to be stocked with anything a cat person would need. Food appeared to be expensive but that’s what a person can expect for shopping at a boutique store.

I love to come here when looking for special kitty items, whether that’s stuff for the kitties or perhaps a unique gift for on of my cat loving friends. The Cat House has a wide selection of food, both dry & wet and all those treats our furbabies just love. There are cat bowls, beds, litter, you name it they got it. The one wall in the store is all about cat toys. My little ones like the cat nip and honeysuckle from this place. Must be good stuff cuz they go nuts when I put fresh nip in their toys.
The Cat House has a nice selection of gifts, like earrings and picture frames. The ladies that work here are very friendly and helpful. There’s no pressure to buy something. Oh and the resident feline is often found hanging out in the window or wandering around the store. Isn’t that kinda like leaving a kid in a candy store?
The Cat House is a treasure trove of everything related to kitties.

I love cats! Therefore, I love visiting the cat house. They have great gifts for fellow cat lovers. There is also a good selection of cat foot and toys. The ladies who work here are friendly and helpful. Don‘t forget to give the resident cat a petting when you go in.

I was just in here again today, and have to say how impressed I am with the service. The lady that served me was excellent, so friendly and so helpful, gave me some free cat food samples to try and recommended a purchase I was looking at. It is called the worlds best cat litter scoop and indeed it is! Thats another story…
Handwritten receipts, friendly, genuine quality service. this place is gem in calgary for the cats in your life.
PS make sure to give the store cats a pat or two, very friendly and lovable!

I love Unilocal,whenever I need support for some personal issue I post it on the conversation blog, within days I have the solution to my problem. I was having problems with my new male kitty and the smells that go along with having a new roommate so I asked for Unilocal assistance; this is how I discovered the Cat House.
The Cat House appeals to anything cat related, there is nothing in this store that you cannot buy. From cat scratchers to beds, from dry food to wet foods. But the thing that I needed the most was what I went there to buy; the ever amazing Zeolitte. This is a powder that can be showered onto your beloved’s kitty litter and voila goodbye smell.
They also had some other wonderful cat spraying removal products like «Nature’s Miracle» and «Capture Pet Stain and Odor Neutralizer» and these are fairly inexpensive but do the job because they get right in there to break down the enzymes.
The Cat House is the cat lover’s dream, have a peek inside.

I have always been a cat lover and wanted to check out The Cat House for a new scratcher.
I was greeted by the lady at the counter and her 2 cats. I made my way to the scratchers at the back. There is no doubt about it, this place has everything Cats! There are gifts, frames, mugs, figurines, all cat related. Its a good place to pick up a gift for any cat ladies you might know!
I was asked by the lady working if I needed any help, I told her I was just browsing for a scratcher. She asked how old my cats were and pointed out a few that might work for them. They have a huge variety of scratchers, some are massive! There are these very attractive ones made to look like trees, others have an asian inspired design. They come in all shapes and sizes and you can order a certain color or carpet. The prices seemed a bit steep to me, anywhere from $ 75 for a very small one to $ 300 for a larger one. Most were from $ 120 – 190. There is a good stock and variety of dry and wet foods. They carry great toys and lots of honeysuckle! They even have electric beds for your cat to keep warm on!
This place is packed with stuff for your feline friend. Its great for gifts too! The woman working was very nice and helpful. I recommend checking this place out for any of your cat needs!
