There are a few amazing baristas that work here and are really personable! There have also been a lot of incidents where my drink order has been met with a lot of confusion. I used to work at Starbucks so I know how to order and I know how to explain drinks and of course I understand that new employees may not always know how to make certain things; however, I ran into problems with the same barista over and over again. This employee never understood what I was ordering and seemed quite irritated with me, even though I explained everything. And this happened EVERYTIME I came in. I’ve actually stopped going to this location altogether because of this barista. Which is a shame since I work so close.

The best Starbucks ever. Fast even though it is ridiculously busy and the staff are amazing. They know the names and drinks of everyone who has been there even a few times. Love them.

Not my most favourite Starbucks. Does the job, but I’d opt to go to another one. And with so many around downtown, as well as other coffee shops, that’s not hard to do. First of all, when there is a line up, it becomes this bizarre circular line up that means that people at the end are mingled in with people waiting for their drinks. Confusing and it seems to make people cranky and competitive. Secondly, the staff are so efficient they seem robotic, even if there isn’t a line up. There doesn’t seem to be any camaraderie, either with each other or with the customers. They get things done, but in a very rigid, almost scary way. For example, when the girl assigned to breakfast sandwiches has nothing to do, she just stands there, stone faced, waiting… like she is in idle mode. Then when something is called, she springs to action, but not making eye contact. Robots? Perhaps. They seem to get the orders right at an average speed but there is something off-putting about the vibe there. And I’ve been there a few times now and felt the same thing. I’ll only go there in the future if that is the absolute easiest option.

This is a pretty standard Starbucks on the corner of 6th Avenue and 5th Street kiddie corner from the court office. It has everything else a Starbucks would have minus a large area for seating. There are only a handful of tables inside and a window bench facing south. The service was friendly, but the coffee is average and the line ups are painfully long. Amazing they still have that partnership with Bell to charge for WiFi. We are in 2011 and not 2006, yes? I don’t think it’s a bad coffee house, but there are better options just a few blocks away. Artigiano’s comes to mind.
