Best fresh coffee in the city. The espresso is silky. Bring some fresh beans home and you will be back the next week for more.

I love getting my morning Americano at Roast. Their product is top quality, absolutely delicious and the staff is knowledgeable and friendly. I really like how they take their corner in the Kingsland Farmers’ Market and make it feel like you’re actually in a trendy café. Bravo Roast!

Visited Roast when we made a quick stop at the farmers’ market. They were quick and had alternatives to dairy, which is great for me since I’m dairy-sensitive. I wouldn’t go out of my way to visit but would stop by again while at the market. And they didn’t look at me too strangely when I was trying to get a good picture of their stall.

Dropped into the Kingsland Market for the first time to pick up some yummy goodness for New Year’s Eve and as always had to seek out a coffee place. Found Roast, it wasn’t busy(thankfully since I had unruly kids with me) so I grabbed a coffee. Since I am a creature of habit I ordered a medium cappuccino. I ended up getting a small and when I mentioned it they bent over backwards saying they would make me another one immediately if I wanted(I’m not sure what I paid for). While very appreciative & impressed I didn’t feel the need and was content with my small. It was to say the least delicious and as I walked away I kinda wished I would have gotten the bigger size(so yummy). It’s very small, no seating other than in the designated areas in the market(which is fine) and I can see how it could get congested easily when busy. Customer service & deliciousness reign supreme at Roast… I will be back(sans kids)!

I caught them on a lazy Saturday afternoon, and got a delicious soy misto. Staff is cheerful, adorable, and the misto I had was excellent. I love that they roast the beans themselves, and the prices are about the same as sbux. So why not stop here, and get a better cup of coffee than you would at sbux? Did I mention the staff is adorable? :)

What’s a farmers market without its token local coffee shop/roasterie? You’ll find Roast on the northwest corner of the market serving pretty much whatever specialty coffee you’re used to getting from your favourite independent shop(you’ll often find me with an Americano in hand). They roast the beans themselves and source them from Apaneca, Costa Rica, Ethiopia, Guatemala and Nicaragua. You can even get iced versions of three of the coffees(I think cappuccinos, lattes and Americanos? Don’t quote me on those except the Americano since it’s the one I tried). The one easy and obvious improvement Roast can make is to their ordering/waiting area. When it’s a bit busy, people tend to form a line however they want… Sometimes it’s a general mash of people waiting in front of the counter to order, while other times that crowd is people who have already paid and are just waiting to pick up their drinks. On Saturday it was the former, and Sunday the latter. After standing in «line» for a few moments, I asked the people in front of me whether they were waiting to order or not. They were just waiting for drinks. A lady that arrived after me did the exact samr thing. It’s not a huge deal, but an «order here» sign above the register or a couple of those little stands with a piece of material between them that you can use to partition a line would help avoid the confusion all together in any rush periods.
