Hong Kong Island Cafe

I LOVE Chinese food. In fact, I love it so much, that I will take «ok» Chinese food over no Chinese food. I might be a bit of an addict.
I was excited to find Chris’ review on Unilocal,for a hole in the wall near my workplace. Sadly, my excitement was short lived.
My wonton soup was watery & I ended up dumping an entire packet of soy sauce in it (rare for me.) The ginger beef had almost no sauce on it. The entire meal was sadly bland. I didn’t even finish my lunch — decided the calories were not worth it.
Service was fast & friendly. I will give them that! However, it is not enough to get me back through the door. If I were to find myself in there again, I would likely do what I swore I never would when Chinese was an option — order a burger.

This place is an incredible little gem! I think they have the best lunch Chinese food in all of south east Calgary, and most defiantly the Industrial Parks. What I mean by lunch Chinese Food is individual portions at a decent price; they are not Chinese as in sit down with a family and go out for the evening place. Instead you get quick service perfect for a business lunch.
The Wonton Soup is delicious. In fact I Tried soup for the first time ever here only to be disappointed that everywhere else has to suck! Their Wonton Soup is perfectly spiced and is delicious.
I have been here countless times over the last 3 years and tried everything on the menu — there is nothing I don’t like!
It is family run — Danny and Pat know all their customers by first name! So come check it out.
