This place knows how to make a sandwich… never mind they know how to bake bread too! I was in a real pinch last weekend when I ordered Brioche buns for a birthday party that I was throwing. Homemade burgers need to be accompanied by some great buns right? I’d ordered some from a bakery not to far away from my house but upon picking them up I was so disappointed that they weren’t really Brioche buns. In a frenzy I started calling around and came across Calgary Italian Bakery. Thank God! Picked them up the morning of the party hot and fresh… they were amazing! Oh and while I was there I had a freshly made sandwich. Pretty darn good! Go try it!

Remember the one when Joey mentioned his love for sandwiches? That guy just gets me. There is nothing better than delicious surrounding a concoction of awesome seasoned with amazing. As another reviewer stated, follow your nose. Especially if you work a few minutes away and that aroma of wheat, yeast, water and sugar carefully measured out and poured into a loaf pan to rise then bake beckons you. Try to go half an hour before noon or half an hour after so you miss the line up. Or wait in the line and realize you need a bakers dozen of bread loaves at amazing prices to take home with you. Don’t forget revolutions have started and wars fought because people wanted bread. Respect that and«carb“e diem. Back to the sandwich. I always order the large — not because I am hungry, but because I then get to choose two meats and two cheeses to fill in between the slices. Mix it up every time you go because you know… YOLO, but ALWAYS make sure you get the vegetable spread. They also have baked goods, sausage rolls and Jamaican patties. Wait… Jamaican patties in an Italian Bakery? What a time to be alive.

I called today to ask about cannoli, the famous Sicilian dessert. Not only they don’t make them(Italian bakery!!!), but the guy on the phone was clueless on what cannolis are. Really disappointed.

I felt like Toucan Sam, following my nose all the way to front doors of the bakery to see where that amazing smell was coming from. It’s a small, classic bakery store front with loaves of bread and bags of english muffins for $ 1 as well as desserts and beverages. The deli has a Spalumbo’s sausage and several sandwiches you can order, all with a large variety of deli cut meats and cheeses. Last time I went, they had this unreal pasta dish on special that almost made my taste buds explode for being within 10 feet. You really can’t beat the prices either.
