Delta Calgary Downtown

The hotel itself was nice enough but I had nothing but issues from first entering the door. I ended my stay with catching a shuttle that came an hour late! I would not recommend staying there or catching the shuttle to the airport!

There were 4 of us staying in this one room which I had booked months in advance. The best they could do was give me a room with a nice king bed and a pullout, guess where I slept… the pullout. So I went home with a sore back, but that’s not what I’m unhappy about. When I checked out they gave me my bill which was supposed to be 409 a night turned put to be 120 $ extra and the only thing he could say was «it’s taxes». I found he tried billing us twice for both mine and the other couples parking… So if I wasn’t ripped off enough by the price of the room and the hidden taxes… they’d rip us off with parking! Then the other couple got locked in the parade for «not paying» and made them pay 40 $ just to leave… Are you kidding me??? PARKING SHOULD BE INCLUDED WITH YOUR STAY! The pool and hottub was dirty… like slimy on the walls and you could see the dirt… no wonder nobody went swimming. Yuck.
The only good part of our stay at the delta hotel was the food was good… Hats off to the chef… Thanks to the kitchen the hotel gets 2 stars…

A good basic hotel, the beds are comfy. Pricey mainly just because of the area. Do not expect anything luxe. That said the staff were very helpful and did things like make sure I knew when my airport shuttle had arrived. Plenty of hotels these days don’t bother with that sort of thing.

Pretty decent place to stay. Value for dollar isn’t there but this is pretty normal for Calgary. They have a nice pool and hot tub that rarely gets used. Close to everything.

I walked in and the beds look like they were 1000 years old and had already been slept in and the linens were not pressed or very fresh looking. Bummer. I am attaching a photo.
Aside from not having any of the amenities other people discuss in their reviews, which really actually pisses me off, the hotel was completely mediocre. I am asking my assistant to book me at the Hyatt for my future stays.
I had one meal in the very open and exposed bar area that was pretty good. I had one breakfast at the +15 bistro and it was pretty good. I ordered room service and it was pretty good.
I checked out the pool and the health club. The pool is pretty tiny and enclosed a glass so kind of an aquarium for all to view you swimming or in the hot tub. But a pool. I check the weight room which consisted of about six cardio machines from 1994 and some all-​purpose weight machine like a bow flex.
Customer service was excellent. It is too bad that I was given such a sorry ass room. I will immediately return to my roots at the Hyatt

While not the most pleasing to the eye – lots of brick — it’s still considered one of the nicer hotels in the city.
And fairly big too; according to one of my industry contacts, they’re only one of three that have mini-​bars in the rooms ;)
Speaking of which, their bar on the ground level is quite open so not a place to hide for a drink lol.
Indoor pool.
Do like their business/​office area, far away in the corner.

Great hotel… amazing bed… warm pool… Convenient location:
Located on the skywalk which leads upto the mall.
a 10 min walk (in the snow) to the nearest CTrain station.
Tip: Skywalk sorta closed in the weekends (which sucked)
Price: we were there off season (March) and got a decent deal on Priceline.

I stayed here on business for a week. I made reservations for a room with 2 queen beds but upon arrival found that they reserved a room with 1 king bed for me. Let the staff know of the situation, and they upgraded me to the executive suite for the same price (the entire week!) due to shortages of queen rooms. That was fantastic service right there.
Pros:
— Loved the upgrade to the 20^th floor, fantastic view
— Looked clean, smelled clean, room was speck and spam everyday
— Lemonade in the foyer everyday (fantastic addition for me, I grab a cup everyday I’m back from work)
— Loved the bottles of water and little chocolates left in the room everyday, it’s the little details that get to me
Cons:
— the ONLY con that I have with the hotel is the front desk, I think Kelev was his name. When I walked in the king room on the first day I saw a fruit basket on the table. The same fruit basket was not present in the executive suite (probably due to the sudden change that the staff did not have time to prepare the room as well). I talked to Kelev to see if that could be arranged in the executive suite. And he told me that fruit baskets are pre-​arranged and I’m getting the upgrade for free, I should be happy with what I’m getting for free and not ask for more. And, get this, started speaking in CHINESE to me. I was EXTREMELY offended. I was born and raised in Canada, spoke to him in perfect English, received the upgrade because the Hotel made a mistake in my reservation, and did not ask about the fruit basket because I was a penny-​pincher! Anyhow, I did not receive the fruit basket. That guy needs to be trained more before he deals with customers.

Great hotel! New and clean layout, friendly staff and welcoming atmosphere. No problems at all!
The one downside: You have to pay for parking (because it’s downtown) but that’s to be expected for the main Calgary area.

I was stuck in the conference rooms on the main level for two days to do my first aid training. And was not happy about that. It was an absolute iceberg in there, even though we repeatedly requested they turn the heat up.
The rooms aren’t the best layout, we kept bumping into each other, or hitting our knees are the tables and lunch was not good. I wasn’t even able to eat the one day due to being a celiac. Again, even though it was requested.
For being a nicer hotel, I was disappointed with the conference rooms.

So-​so. Room furnishings were very dated, bedding did not feel very clean (perhaps they do not clean the duvet between stays). The room had a vague mildew-​y smell, which was made worse when the heat was running. My stay was during the winter so I had no choice but to deal with this. Concierge was helpful, assisted me in locating a pharmacy open late at night and recommended a decent restaurant for a business meeting. The hotel restaurant and bar were not very good at all — very priced and poor quality, even by hotel standards. Parking was exorbitantly expensive, and of course, the hotel staff were not forthcoming to suggest alternatives. I felt like I was nickel and dimed at this hotel.

I lived in Calgary as a kid and I remember this hotel being there even then.
We stayed here one night thanks to airmiles and it was OK. But just OK. The rooms were nice, however the bathroom had a lot of mold and funny things growing in the caulking in the shower. It kinda grossed me out. Also, the bed looked a little worse for wear which is not what you want to see when you walk into a hotel room.
The staff were very nice and helpful and even let us check in a bit early. There wasn’t anything particularly amazing about this place, but nothing particularly bad about it again. If I am paying for a room in the area I will probably spend the extra cash and stay somewhere a bit nicer, but for a freebie this place was great! The starbucks downstairs in the morning was a nice treat as well.

i got lucky and got a good deal and stayed at this hotel for a week.

if i can get a good deal again… il definitely stay there again… =)

This hotel is a solid 4 star in downtown Calgary. The rooms are nicely decorated and the view from the room we got was excellent. The Service is great as always with Delta Hotel. The location is a bit away from the main restaurants but its within a walking distance for sure. The concierge was very helpful and was patient to point out the places to visit and see in the city. He even got us reservations at the last minute in a hard to get restaurant. Now the downside due to the parking issue in Calgary downtown it was hard to get a spot sometimes. The weekend we were there we had to call parking management just to get the door open. They do assign parking to the hotel guests no matter what but it can be a hassle considering the parking is shared with building in the area. Beware though the hotel can get really pricey on the weekdays.

Great hotel, very friendly and helpful staff, luxurious and comfortable beds, good in-​room service, right in downtown… It checked right on so many factors and almost deserving a 5-​star rating. So, why just a 3-​star? There were a couple of problems — 1) The WIFI and Parking was not free and it was another 30 bucks everyday for it. It’s a bit expensive especially when you expect WIFI available these days for free. 2) At the end of our stay, we were charged for making phone calls from the room. Not one but many phone calls. This was very worrisome because I know for a fact that we didn’t make any calls. How do I know? I knew because I had a cellphone with Canada and USA plan and made all calls from it. The lady at the reception fixed the mistake but it got me worried on why they reported these charges. Did the room service people make the calls in our absence? That would also be very worrisome because we always hang the «privacy please» thingy on the door.
I would still recommend this place and it made for a fantastic stay at Calgary.
