First of all the owner Janet is fabulous. She was so sweet and she got back to me almost immediately after I put in my order. I got red velvet and vanilla tiramisu gluten free cupcakes with dairy free icing. The cupcakes were so good. Light and fluffy, and I loved that the icing wasn’t too sweet. They did such a good job with my order and they looked so cute and pretty. I loved both flavours. Will definitely be back!

Beware of the price for 6″ Birthday cake I was in a pinch and needed to locate a bakery that could make me a dairy free birthday cake for my daughter. I checked the webpage for the types of cakes and placed the order over the phone on a Friday and made arrangements to pick it on Monday. I neglected to enquire about the price and didn’t check the email confirmation until Monday when I was supposed to pick up the cake. I was shocked at the $ 60.00 price and quickly phoned to enquire why the price was so high. With no hesitation the owner simply responded with«that is how it is». I should have cancelled right then but I was in a pinch and simply responded with«that’s fine, I’m on my way». I entered the store and asked the owner not to take my enquiry personally, I was a first time customer and hadn’t looked at the email confirmation, the website was absent of any prices. The store was empty when I entered and the lady was so annoyed and offended that she proceeded to yell at me for my price enquiry and didn’t stop until I left the store $ 60.00 poorer with a 6″ cake. Against my better judgment I tried to defuse the situation by saying I understood only to be hit back with more yelling and more rudeness. It’s a shame that the owner was unable to backup the $ 60.00 price tag. Hopefully the cake is $ 60 delicious.

Oh Cookie Mama, mother of all cookies! I’m not gluten-intolerant and these cookies are deeeelicious! I am always a little wary of trying gluten-free products because they usually taste like cardboard but I didn’t taste anything different than if I was eating a regular cookie! Also the chocolate brownie is to die for. Next time… cupcakes!

Definitely as good as it gets for cookies, cupcakes, and cakes. While I’m not gluten intolerant and their regular baked goods are just as good, I gravitate to the dark chocolate brownie(baked with house made almond meal), a ginger cupcake with cream cheese icing(the gluten free ones are made with a combo of potato and rice flour), and even a macaron(oh yeah, coconut and also gluten free). Also, every treat is named after a song, from the 80s to the present, making choosing which one to eat first a real popularity contest. In the end, they’ll all get eaten anyway I guess. With Bliss charging $ 3.70 for a gluten free cupcake, and Crave charging $ 3.75, Cookie Mama’s prices are about on par with the standard high end bakeries in the city. The owner also focuses on using organic ingredients with no preservatives or additives, which I can definitely get behind. And where else in Calgary can you get a chocolate chip gluten free cookie, a Jamaican patty, and a latte(Fratello coffee, locally roasted) all in the same place? Take a stroll through Inglewood, one of the most interesting neighbourhoods in Calgary, and be sure to stop in at this gem.

For those of us with dietary restrictions finding treats can be difficult. I know full well that I don’t have to have a cookie or a cupcake but I like to once in a while. Places like cookie mama allow us to have the treat with out suffering serious illness or pain. The wide array of cookie and cupcake flavors available in gluten free and dairy free options makes picking a/some treats fun. Some places offer gluten free/dairy free options but they taste like card board; this is not the case at cookie mama. My favorite cookies are the meringues and the purple rain which is a ginger cookie. The ginger cookie has a strong ginger flavor and is not too sweet which I love because it feels like a little bite on your tongue. It’s not as soft as I normally like it but still tasty. The meringue cookies are cooked perfectly with crunchy edges and chewy middle. I had the revolution cupcake which was amazing flavors. The berry flavors in the frosting made my mouth water it was so good. Some people feel the prices are expensive and I can see how it might seem that way. When you talk to the owner and hear about how she goes all over the city to find the best ingredients for gluten free/dairy free products that also taste good it makes more sense. Plus she stores all her gluten free/dairy free icings, toppings and batters separate from the regular products in order to insure avoiding cross contamination. All this is very costly. So I agree that it seems very expensive but I also understand why it would be. If you have special dietary needs and you want a treat or if you just like your dessert to be made with healthy ingredients than I think cookie mama is worth every penny. They also make coffee, specialty coffee, tea and hot chocolate. I have never tried any of these so I can’t comment on the quality.

Alan S. is on the money. I just paid over $ 5 for two cookies and only one of them was stand-out delicious. They aren’t even large enough to visually justify the cost. I recognize the value of special ingredients, but for that price I will make my own cookies. Cookie Mama is a once in a blue moon or special occasion stop, in my opinion.

Cupcakes are fantastic, always fresh, iced right there on the spot, and made to order! Any combination your heart desires. My fav: chocolate oreo with cream cheese icing :)
