We offer hosted group trips that depart on specific dates through the year, and custom-​designed trip planning for private adventures (individuals, groups of friends, family groups, etc.).

Our team is highly experienced and we work as a team drawing on our pooled knowledge and broad travel experience. We know what works and what doesn’t and we are constantly on the road learning about new properties, things to do and places to stay.

Meet the Business Owner

Denell F.

Business Owner

Denell Falk founded Civilized Adventures in 1994, building on 13 years in adventure travel. Since then, Denell has continued a close relationship with the Calgary Zoo, designing their natural-​history based Zoofaris. Her enthusiasm, experience and attention to detail continue to bring her success in seeking out new travel ideas as well as designing special interest trips for both independent travellers and organizations that include the Calgary Zoo, the Jane Goodall Institute of Canada, and the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada (Calgary Centre).

Drawing from many rich travel experiences, Denell is an astute critic of what’s worth adding to a trip, and she never stops looking for new and exciting options for our clients. She has led many groups to Africa (from traditional safari-​based countries to the mysterious pyramids of Egypt), Asia, the South Pacific, Europe, South and Central America, as well as expedition cruises to Antarctica, the Spitsbergen region, and our Maritimes.
