The Calgary Rowing Club is an interesting mix of really fit, really tanned instructors, really rich patrons who own their own sculling boats and pay exorbitant amounts for membership, and a rundown building from the 70s that probably hasn’t been updated in any way. The Adult Learn to Row course was the reason I was there, and really loved it. While a bit pricey, it offers an experience nearly unattainable in Calgary, and it’s a great way to spend a few summer evenings. I suggest taking any opportunity you might have to get in one of the boats here. The instructors are knowledgeable and have an overwhelming passion for rowing.
