Best Western Premier Freeport Inn & Suites

Staff were super helpful on checking in. When I arrived at our room we already had a crib set up for a baby which was fantastic with sheets that were provided for her if I needed to use them.
The room had already had the fire on to heat it.
I found the restaurant menu in the hotel to not be something that I would eat and looked around for other things close but there wasn’t really anything that could deliver close enough that I thought would keep it warm.
The room itself was as expected in a new hotel it was nice and quiet and tidy and clean.
The hotel pool was too cold for my little one to go in which sucked as she likes swimming. So we spend a little time in the hot tub and then went back to our room.
There isn’t any changing rooms near the pool it’s just a washroom and it’s a bit awkward to try and get dry in as the fan doesn’t take the moisture out of the room your very damp.

I enjoyed a wonderful overnight stay at this facility. From reception, to room preparation & cleanliness to the shuttle ride to the airport there is no fault to find. The breakfast carry-​on bag is a very nice touch. To top it off I inadvertently left an electric toothbrush there and on calling 3 days later, they found it immediately and have forwarded it to me. With over 2 million traveling miles I cannot think over a more enjoyable «bang for the buck» place to stay.

Great rooms (couldn’t hear the nearby planes landing) and a really good *free* breakfast spread in the morning down in the lobby. Decent gym and pool as well. WIFI is free.

Context:
I was in Calgary to visit the American Consulate for a visa stamping. Which means:
1. The primary place I needed to visit when in Calgary, was Downtown Calgary (which is where I the US Consulate is located)
2. I needed the hotel to be flexible about dates (cause the consulate doesn’t work on clear ETA).
Room cost:
Through expedia, I got weeknights for $ 150/​night; extended stay booked directly through hotel for $ 130/​night.
What’s included:
Breakfast (they have a full breakfast bar… and at the price of the room, that’s a steal); Parking (this is mainly because they are not in downtown… any hotel in downtown would expect you to cough up $ 15/night…but then again, downtown hotels would give you covered parking, this does not)

I had a fantastic time here couple year ago when I visited Calgary. This hotel is actually very nice, but this time my experience was ruined by the breakfast staff, so the one star is for the breakfast staff. We came in near closing time, instead of trying to accommodate us, they took away the food as quickly as possible. It was difficult for me especially I had two young children with me. Some guests came in after us, but was served. I didn’t under why, but I thought about it afterward, that was really rude of them.

Stayed here for one night in Calgary after arriving at the airport. It is very close to the airport so it’s convenient to get to, but not so close that you hear planes — I really do not even recall hearing one.
The place is really nice and clean, and the staff that I interacted with were very helpful. Also, their breakfast in the morning was great, and the fact that there is wifi is also a huge plus. The place seemed pretty packed when I was there, so it would seem that others agreed with my assessment!
Definitely a good option if you need a good, clean hotel close to the airport.

I have to admit, I usually avoid Best Westerns, and the only reason I stayed there was out of lack of choice…
This hotel is right by the airport, i.e. wayyyyy far from town or anything else for that matter. Your next door neighbor is a car dealership…
That being said the hotel is brand new, very nicely appointed, especially when you get the upgraded rooms with hot tub, fireplace, and robes! The bar and restaurant downstairs offer decent choices, they have a shuttle that takes you to and back from the airport. Staff in general was very nice and accommodating for the most part.
One thing I have to mention, the reception area is tiled, which when you come in from the snowy and messy outside ends up dirty and messy inside… not the best choice… Also I tried to get an extension for one night, and was told I’d have to check out from my current room… when I was already supposed to be there for 4 nights at $ 200+ I felt they could have found a way to accommodate me.

This place is simply superb, as good as any Marriott, Hilton or Hyatt I’ve stayed in. It is a newly constructed hotel and everything is super clean. The people are very friendly. The rooms are of generous size, with plenty of leg room. Parking is plentiful and included in the room rate, as are internet and breakfast. There is a very nice restaurant at the lobby level and a nice lounge with a sports bar feel to it in the basement where you can get excellent pizzas and beer. Very conveniently located near the Calgary International Airport. If I ever visit Calgary again, this is exactly where I plan to stay.

New hotel in the middle of nowhere. It’s located just north of the Calgary International airport. It’s jumbled in with some industrial type buildings, and a Toyota dealership right next door.
The hotel itself is new, so the inside has contemporary feel. The lobby check-​in is located to the left as you walk in. If you look straight ahead from entry there’s the pub/​lounge. Also this is where the continental breakfast is served each morning. The room are nice, beds are firm. There are four large pillows on each bed. Also a 42″ LCD LG TV, room safe, fridge and most other common things you would find in a hotel room.
The one thing I noticed about this hotel is that it’s right along the flight path of the airport. You can hear a plane every 15 minutes or so coming in or taking off. If noise like that is an issue for you than book elsewhere. I did notice the planes did simmer between 11:00 P.M. and 6:00 A.M.
Check-​in was also painless, and quick so was check-​out.
Side note; At the time of this review the hot tub was closed by the CHR due to it not being kept up to their standards. If you want further details, I’m sure its posted on the website.

This is one of the new hotels that have just opened up recently about a mile north of the airport. I spend most of my time travelling and living out of a suitcase, so I am going to base my review on similar hotels that I have stayed at.
The good:
— The hotel is new, the rooms are nice and spacious. When you walk in, you have the bathroom to the side, a little seating area with a couch, and then the bed is located on the far end.
— My room featured an in-​room safe, 42-​inch television, mini fridge, microwave, free Internet access, a clock with MP3 input, bed, couch, and standup shower
— My room also came with a fireplace which is a nice touch. Having a fireplace was a great way to warm up the room instead of using the standard in room heaters.
— They have a decent indoor swimming pool with a water slide and fitness room.
— They offer a free full breakfast
The bad:
— The fireplace is a nice feature, but the glass enclosure that surrounds the fireplace gets very hot. It is very easy for someone to walk by and accidentally touch the glass and be burned. Especially if you have kids, you would want to stay away from the rooms with the fireplaces
— Comfort wise, I thought the the rooms were a little too stiff. The couch, chair, and the bed were all very firm and personally I did not find them very comfortable. I prefer to have a softer bad that you sink into.
— Amenities: There are no restaurants within walking distance. Actually, you are almost out in the middle of nowhere. But within a 5 minute drive, you will find a strip mall with a few restaurants like Applebees, Boston Pizza, Ricky’s Diner, Burger King, Tim Hortons, and a few other little restaurants.
— For a hotel of this type, I was expecting a little more from their free breakfast. The selection was poor, which consisted of waffles, scrambled eggs, sausages, cereal, small selection of donuts, toast, and fruit juice/​coffee. I would have expected to see an omelet bar, greater selection of breakfast items, etc.
Overall, this was a nice hotel. I travel for a living so I spend over 200 nights a year living in a hotel, and when compared to other hotels, I found this place to have some great features. But at the same time, I didn’t find the rooms to be very comfortable with the firm bed and stiff couch.

Amazing staff, haven’t stayed at a hotel with a staff this helpful in a long time. The owner Liam is very involved to the point that he drove me to the convenience store personally to get some things. Very highly recommended if you’re in Calgary on business or a layover.
