Red Wing Shoe Store

I came here to buy inserts for my walking shoes which worked out great. They were pricey, however, they did give me the support that I needed = happy walking camper. Small store with limited but decent selection. Great customer service.

I had warranty issue with my work boots. The staff did a great job fixing the issue. It’s well worth getting high quality footwear when I know the shop I purchased it from will step up and support it like this!
Background: I’m a railroader who spends all day (or night) on his feet on rough ballast.

I bought a pair of the 2414 boots here with the Tuff Toe and the red wing mink oil to protect the boots, a 500 $ investment. I never bought Red Wings before and the guy who was here sold me a broken pair of boots at new boot price. I seen these little marks on the sole area of the outside of the boots, I asked him what they were and he told me they were a part of the design of the boots, because of how they looked I believed him. Now 6 months later I’ve realised that he sold me boots that had super fine cuts so thin that they took 6 months to open up. Now my sole is slowly ripping open. I went in and told the women there about my problem and she seems like a really good worker to me, but it was the other guy who works there who screwed me over. Now I have to bring my boots in there during my Christmas holidays to see if they’ll replace them since they sold me these cut open boots… I can’t believe this guy lied to my face and thought he would get away with it… He thinks he saved money by selling me cut up boots for full price but in reality I’ve told a lot of my coworkers about what that guy at this location has done. If they don’t replace these with new ones I might be forced to just purchase from a different Red Wing Shoes location in the future and I guess they’ll lose a potential life long customer. I’ll update this review after I go back in there to see if they’ll replace these boots.
In terms of the actual Red Wings Boots I believe they’re very high quality and worth the money as long as the employees don’t sell you defective boots lol, look at them and don’t make the same mistake as me. The 2414 is super comfy and very water proof.

Just wanted to note that I was in last Tuesday to buy a pair of boots, and the woman who helped me was perfectly pleasant and helpful. She also mentioned that she was new, so perhaps this indicates a change in the lacklustre customer service that others have experienced in the past.

Went in Today to look at the Red wing boots I had seen on the web as well as buy a pair of U.S. made Carhartt pants. I had bought a pair of carharts at the Langley Red Wing Carhartt store. The woman argued with every point I mentioned from the website. OK so onto the Carhartts. I pick up and look inside a pair to see that they are made in Mexico refold them and put them back on the shelf. The Woman grabs them off the shelf and says that will not do, my boss will get angry if he sees this. then points to the photo on the price tag and says you don’t need too do that there is a picture. I told here that I wanted the made in the USA pants. She went on about how carhartt was a Canadian Company not U S. No made in the USA. Left the store went home got my Carharts and returned to show here what I was looking for. She finally said that they are made but Burnaby does not carry them. and it was a misunderstanding and she felt bad. No she got caught trying to pawn off mexican cheap stuff because they do not carry the good stuff. Used shoes in the middle of the store.
As others have said this store has crappy service and should be avoided. The Red Wing store in Langley is good.
Bought my made in the USA Carhartt work pants at Mark’s for less anyway.

When I called in to inquire about a shoe, the lady on the phone was very rude and impatient. She cut me off in the middle of my sentences and when I asked if I could order from the store online she said «I told you already you CAN’T.» Unfortunately for me and luckily for them they are the only Red Wing store near by.

Buyer beware. They offer several shoes on clearance, with the unspoken stipulation that there are no exchanges, no refunds. I bought a $ 229 pair of boots on clearance for $ 189, still a lot of money. The boots seemed okay in the store, but after walking around a few days, they really hurt. It wasn’t until I tried to exchange them that they pointed out that it said all sales final on my receipt. They suggested that I buy conditioner and rub it into the leather every week, but then added «I don’t see how that’s going to help,» which puzzled me. I knew I wasn’t going to get anywhere, and I couldn’t wear them, so I said «keep it» and walked out. They can add my boots to the rack of used shoes they keep in the store. Maybe they came from others like me. Red Wing Shoes used to be premium «Made in America» footwear, but I think most of them are made offshore now. Still, if you need industrial specialty footwear, Red Wing is the place… but shopping here is like buying used car.
