It was alright! When you need a meal it’s decent. We will try their delivery sometime and will be back for dim sum.

My husband sometimes gets a yen for this place and we drive out there for lunch. Their lunch menu is cheap, and the food fills you up(we’re don’t fill up easily). The main waitress is lovely and always recognizes us. She seats us right away at our favourite table, brings my husband two glasses of water as he always asks for and sets the tea in front of me as only I drink the tea. She always guesses my husband’s order because he gets the same thing every time… and waits patiently while I decide what I want. I sometimes get the dim-sum items, but usually get the rice noodles with beef and black bean sauce. It’s so good, so filling. so saucy. I love it. It costs about $ 5.50 and fills me up for hours. We love this place. It’s simple, staff are very friendly and always thank us profusely for our business.

Diner style Chinese food. That’s the way I think of this place. It’s a bit of a time warp. Other descriptions are: — Old school comfort — Chinese food when it first came to Canada — Chinese food for westerners who’ve never ever had Chinese food before. Yes, there’s egg foo young on the menu. I haven’t seen that in years. Honestly, I didn’t think places like this still existed. The closest comparable would be Foo’s Ho Ho in Chinatown, which is likely the last one standing of this type after the closing of the On On a long time ago. Even the name, «Peking» is old school before the new label of Beijing. It’s family run and the people who run it are super, super friendly. Décor is extremely casual. Definitely not upscale. Food wise, it’s not bad. Not spectacular by any means, but better than bastardized food court Chinese food. There was soooooo much food ordered tonight. Some run of the mill soup of the day Garlic pepper prawns Cod with tofu hot pot Mixed meat and tofu hot pot Crispy skin chicken Lettuce wrap Stir fried snow peas with prawns and veggies Stir fried spinach Roast duck Beef brisket hot pot Curry beef with potatoes and the dish that came out of left field and surprised me: Roasted chicken on sticky rice! Yes. A third restaurant that makes this. Foo’s Ho Ho, Taste Good Wonton Seafood Restaurant, and this place. Unfortunately, this version is at the bottom of the pile. Although the rice had a good assortment of Chinese sausage, Chinese bacon, and mushrooms, it was rather bland, as was the chicken. I guess that was why they served it with a side of gravy. The good: Spinach, and the stir fried snow peas. Assorted meat and tofu hot pot The so-so Cod with tofu hot pot — a bit too salty, otherwise it’s good Garlic pepper prawns — ditto Curry beef with potatoes. The not so good but won’t kill you: Everything else. Need to mention the lettuce wrap — don’t order it. Not very good. There’s something for everyone, and this place aims to serve a certain demographic. Even the owner(?) admitted that. Would I come back? Maybe for the hotpot if I was in the neighbourhood.

I like Peking delivered. Eating in is ok and the main smiley waiter is super nice. The spicy fried rice is great when you eat in but not so good when you order delivery. The sweet sour pork is good because they only pour the sweet & sour sauce on top. The beef and broccoli is well done because the broccoli is still crispy and not overcooked. Overall, been getting Peking delivered for years and it has been consistent, good quality albeit generic Chinese food.

So I’m really writing this review for my mom. The owner of this restaurant is a close friend of my mom’s and it’s a family run business. It’s true, the waiter is extremely nice. My mom just called the owner(Lisa) to give him a raise and never to fire him. Hahahh. I normally don’t go with my mom to eat dinner here cause there are too few options for a vegetarian. I’ve never eaten lunch here, only dinner. My mom comes here to eat dinner with a bunch of her friends often. The service is great, the food is good, it’s fairly clean. As their restaurant is named Peking, one of the special dishes for dinner is the peking duck. I think it’s originally a Thai dish. but yeah. It’s deep fried peking duck, stripped to just the skin with green onions and a hoisin sauce(it’s thick, dark, and sweet). This is suppose to be wrapped in something close to a steamed dumpling wrap. It’s pretty good(quote my mom, I’m vegetarian). They also have another Thai dish, which is a mixture of chopped up deep fried veggies, ground beef(I think?), and thin vermicelli, all put into a lettuce wrap with some hoisin sauce. It’s not bad, but from the looks of it, it’s a tad oily. I will go try the food at lunch after school some time. and say hello to the owner too.
