Really really bad food… the spicey beef noodle soup broth was too oily and just tasted bad… the condensed milk toast was dry and not well made. The rest of the order was mediocre. Good menu choices but just not good quality. The only good item was the deep fried salt n pepper chicken. Unfortunate to have to make this review as I usually love this kind of food.

This place gets packed for lunch due to Moscrop high school being close by, so come early if you want to skip the wait! I came by on a rainy weekday for lunch and was pretty hyped to try this place. However, everything just fell short. I ordered the beef hot plate with noodles and pepper sauce. The dish was served sizzling hot(literally sizzling — so be careful) with a huge portion. The beef steak was not as tender as I would’ve preferred. The server did not ask how I’d like the meat cooked, and it came cooked well done resulting in rather tough meat. The noodles were pretty good. I wasn’t a fan of the pepper sauce. The meal was definitely filling but nothing impressive in terms of flavour. The service here is extremely poor so be prepared to flag down the staff multiple times if you want anything. Our server came by a total of two times — to take our order and then to bring us the meals. I asked for some water and they brought a jug of water but no glasses to drink with. I wasn’t able to flag down anyone for a water glass because it was so busy so I didn’t have any water for the meal. I also noticed that this restaurant seems a bit hazardous. Many of the waitresses were holding hot tea cups with their bare hands(not on a tray or with any gloves) and you can see they were in pain. Combine that with a very full and tightly packed restaurant and it could result in someone getting burned. Also, this place also only takes cash, which is a tad inconvenient and unnecessary. There is an ATM outside nearby though if you forget. Overall, I really wish I could like this place more so I’ll give it a couple more tries if I’m in the area, especially since they have a large menu.

this place is a staple for my family. We always get the popcorn chicken, which I wish was seasoned with basil but it is quite good none the less. They could put more sauce into their white rice with braised pork garnish. The beef noodle is not amazing, but it’s not my go-to choice. The drinks are very good, I enjoy ordering my bubble teas, and they often have cheaper specials for drinks

Probably one of the worst Asian restaurants I’ve been to. I ordered the tendon and beef noodles and that was absolutely disgusting. It was bland and my noodles were undercooked. The service was slow and servers were rude. One of the server was condescending when taking our order. It took us a while just to get our bill from them… they don’t look up or look to their sides at all. I had to yell across the restaurant just to get their attention. I would never come back to this establishment or ever recommend anyone to come to this place.

We had a terrible experience here. We were seated, ordered two bubble teas, salt and pepper chicken, and beef noodles. We watched in disbelief as customers came in after us and received their food before us. Not once did any waitress check on us, you think they would know something is wrong when we had been sitting there for so long(about a half hour) with nothing on our table. Brutal. We finally asked a different waitress about our food, she went to check and said that our order was entered in the system but the kitchen did not receive it. but everyone else in the restaurant was getting their food,(totally makes sense right?). It would have been better if she told us that they forgot our order instead of making up an excuse. Our food came shortly after, it was very mediocre. They only comped our bubble tea, but only because after a certain time the bubble tea is on special. In hindsight, we should have walked out but we were way too hungry and wanted our food. Stay away!

I am a huge fan of Taiwanese beef noodles, but I’m not a huge fan of the noodles at No. 1 Beef Noodle. The default(thin) noodles lack the usual firm texture that I’m used to in Taiwanese beef noodles. I’ve ordered the A05 spicy beef noodles at least 3 times now(to give them the benefit of the doubt) and each time I’ve been disappointed. What makes the soup spicy, is their post-addition of chili oil. You can tell that the chili oil is added to the pre-existing soup base, rather than being brewed together because the oil collects at the top. The thicker sliced noodles(that you have to pay extra for) are better than the regular thin noodles, but tend to get clumped together. Their bubble teas are good, but nothing special. We usually order a plate of fried chicken to share — their fried chicken is not bad. The restaurant is good for variety, but nothing stands out from the dishes that I’ve tried. The service here is also not great — it’s often a mission to catch the waiters attention. All in all, I’d have to say that the beef noodles here are definitely not number one in my books.

I came here with my family for dinner on a Sunday night. Three of us ordered spicy dishes and each of us thought the dishes were too spicy. I guess the cook was a bit heavy-handed with the chilis that night. Aside from the pain to my taste buds, my kimchee seafood noodles were very tasty. Granted, I was eating tiny bites with lots of breaks. I also sampled the chicken nuggets, deep fried chicken wings and Taiwanese sausage. All of them were great! The only downside to our visit was that service was very unfriendly. Every request was met with an unhappy response by the server. I guess that’s somewhat expected at Chinese and Taiwanese restaurants. Also, at the end of our meal, the girl clearing our table was weirdly frantic. She was scrambling, grabbing at plates erratically, knocked over my chopsticks and got curry all over my cellphone, and almost knocked over two drinks(we had to catch them). It was so bad that I, usually a soft spoken person, loudly exclaimed«OHMYGOD!» while she was«clearing» the table. When she left, three of us burst into laughter because it was 10 seconds of ridiculous and unnecessary chaos.

This place is okay when we came in the servers greeted us and seated us. Id reccomend not to get the xiao long bao. They were unfortunetely not all that good. And ended with the shaved ice for dessert which was okay.

This place holds my current title for favourite bowl of Taiwanese beef noodles! Beef Noodle in Soup(A0.1 on the menu) breakdown: Broth = 5⁄5 Noodles(thick extra $.50) = 5⁄5 Beef = 5⁄5 Extras(bok choy, scallions) = 5⁄5 Portion/Value = 4⁄5(around $ 9) Bubble Tea = 4⁄5 Chicken Nuggets = 3.5÷5 I would give this place a solid 5 if their chicken nuggets were juicier on the inside and crispier on the outside(Teawok and Strike have better chicken nuggets in my opinion).

I’ve been coming here off and on for the last few years and have never had a bad experience. My husband and I used to come here for late night snacks rather than an actual meal, but more recently we found ourselves here for lunch with some friends. Parking can be pretty lousy at times with the cramped lot but on this particular Sunday for whatever reason we were able to find parking. I always order the hot and sour soup with noodles with a side of the spicy wontons. I know a couple years back they changed the noodles but now they offer several types(thin, glass, rice, etc). I always order the thin noodle, but I do miss the ones they used to come with previously. They’ve jazzed up the menu since the last time I visited(more pictures!). It looks like they did away with a lot of their appetizers, including my favorite deep fried squid tentacles. Nooo! Anyway, portions are pretty good; I almost always end up taking enough leftover soup home for another meal. My husband was feeling a bit under the weather so he ordered the beef and fish congee and enjoyed that. All in all this is a decent place for Taiwanese and has been reliable for us.

I went here twice while visiting Vancouver and really love the food here! My friends enjoyed it as well. They have a huge selection of different types of dishes that I was overwhelmed. On my first visit, I ordered the Fried Kimchi Fried Noodles with Seafood and it was delicious! I haven’t had anything like it before. It is spicy with kimchi, other veggies, mussles, scallops, and crab mixed in it. On my second visit, I ordered the Marinated Beef Hot Pot with a side of egg noodle mixed with meat sauce and holy cow, it was a lot of food!!! I had plenty to take home to eat for lunch the next day. The soup is on the lighter side, but balances well with the flavor of the meat sauce in the noodles. It comes with pickled cabbage and veggies too! My friends ordered the popcorn chicken as an appetizer and that was really good too. They make it way better in Canada than the states! During 3 – 5 pm they have a half off drink special, so I tried the blueberry slush. I was very impressed! It was so yummy and super refreshing! The next visit, I wanted a drink again since it was so good and got the blueberry + strawberry slush(mixed). I was not disappointed! I have yet to try their beef noodle soup that they are named after. The service is okay and the parking is horrible! There are limited parking spots because the area is so small and shared by other shops, so you may have to park a couple blocks away. Be careful where you park so you don’t get towed! There are signs and painting on each parking spot indicating which shop it is for.

The food was alright. It wasn’t bad but it wasn’t spectacular either. The reason why I rounded down my 3.5 stars to 3 stars is the parking space. Wow. Not only is the park lot really small, you may get trapped inside the lot because the restaurant ‘allows’ people to park behind other cars that’s already parked in the stalls. I’d go back there again if I didn’t have to drive :)

This place made me so angry that i am writing a review for the first time ever on Unilocal.i paid $ 4.5(b/f tax) for a honey lemon green tea and another $ 4.5 for a honey milk tea(otherwise i would have to pay $ 3.75 for just being there). Both drinks were yucky. My instant reaction to honey lemon green tea: «What the heck is this?» Honestly, it was so bad that i didnt want to take another sip. I regretted not driving to the nearest Starbucks because at the same price, Starbucks drinks are waaaaaay better. The honey milk tea does not even use real honey or milk. They use milk powder. When i asked them about the use of milk powder, they told me that i need to pay $ 1 for«Real» milk. Why did they name it «honey milk tea» if they dont even put milk in it? I’M NEVERCOMINGBACKHERE.

This family friendly restaurant is usually packed. My favourite dish is their salty peppery chicken nuggets. We also tried the shaved ice, but nothing spectacular. The Shanghai dumplings quick to serve and steaming hot. The only downside is the parking.

This restaurant have been around for many years. When I used go study at BCIT, my friends and I would come here for food. It still tastes the same as I had remembered. I came here recently with some friends a as they wanted some food and I wanted my bbtea. The foods seem to taste similar as before and the drinks too. Their pudding is still my favourite. I ordered the honey green milk tea with pudding half sweet. I still felt it was quite sweet. But when my friend ordered another drink half sweet too but it wasn’t sweet at all. I guess the sweetness isn’t consistent. Friend ordered their chicken nugget in noodles and she liked it. I ordered fried tofu to share and loved the garlic onions on top. Very tasty. Decent service and lots of selections of food here. Best part was drinks were 50% off after 9pm!!!

We were seated right away at the front of the restaurant. We quickly placed our food order and waited half an hour. We were served hot tea. We did not receive our bubble tea or noodles. Instead we witnessed other customers who came after us(including the table right next to us) get their food before us. We complained to a server and she stared blankly back. We got up and left hungry. This is the last time I will visit this establish as they never seem to serve food according to when order are placed.

I’m tough as it is, especially with bbt places that are cash only a and stare you down when you ask for a receipt! bbt uses powder as usual, I get it, so nothing special. and I know better not to eat at places targeting students, so easy to please lol. only come here for a craving or if some friends too lazy to drive to Richmond, as it can be a happening place, a good 30-seater. Booth seating on the right. but parking really sucks here, in this small and tight plaza. Expect to walk a few blocks away in residential area.

A case of «something gone wrong, fixed right». Wife and I went there yesterday for a bite and a couple things went wrong but I was very surprised at how smoothly it was handled so along with the food being good I’ll give them a 4 out of 5. 1) The drink my wife ordered wasn’t what she expected — she asked if it was thick and it was actually a runny style drink. The waitress took it back with no questions asked and let her switch her order. 2). We ordered a dish of deep fried squid and it hadn’t arrived. We asked for it but were pretty much done eating. We told them if it wasn’t ready to cancel it but it had just been finished. The waitress, seeing that we were done eating, asked if we wanted it or not and take the squid back and took it off the bill. Not extraordinary stuff here but unexpected in a Chinese diner — the service was very pleasant(in good English too) so I’ll be back again soon.

With a name like No.1 beef noodle, it’s got a lot to live upto. I’ve come here several times purely out of convenience. It’s located in a lonely strip mall not really close to anything other than BCIT and a secondary school. Strangely though, it is pretty busy every time I come by. No.1 is the sister restaurant to Beefy beef on Main and their menu, food quality, service, and terrible parking lots are nearly identical. The food here is your standard taiwanese café fare with an extensive selection of fried appetizers, noodle bowls, rice, and various dim sum items. Their bubble tea and dessert options are just as varied. The food quality is hit or miss. I quite enjoy the sweet and sour fish or pork dishes, wonton in chilli, and the deep fried bread with condensed milk. I find the hot pots to be horrific — some are excessively salty and others are watery. Last time, I ordered the sesame chicken hotpot and it tasted like half the bowl was filled with sesame oil. The beef noodle soups are actually quite good. The bubble teas are decent enough — I enjoy a Chrysanthemum tea in the winter and a watermelon slush in the summers. The dining room and ambience is nice. Modern, clean, and abuzz with hungry patrons. The service is somewhat inconsistent — some days, I get top notch service from some of the friendliest waitresses and other days, it’s as if I took them on a date and never called her back. No.1 beef noodle certainly isn’t number one in my books but it certainly provides an okay meal that won’t break the bank. I wouldn’t go out of my way to pay them a visit but if you’re in the neighborhood, it may be worth a stop.
