Great food for the price. Not sure why they stingy with their napkins though? Lol. Otherwise all good. Good for cheap meal.

I used to go their Richmond location many years ago. The bubble tea was really popular in Chinese community. The menu is pretty simple, all Taiwanese dishes. I love the beef noodle meal set and of course their bubble tea(I normally order one with less ice).

Didn’t know there was a Pearl Castle in this part of the city at all. Definitely much smaller and lower key than the Richmond locations. Parking is plentiful in the large strip mall parking lot. As mentioned, the interior is ½ the size of the others, so it can get pretty packed. Groups are possible, but it will involve a bit of bunching up. Staff were friendly. Service was a bit slow though. My only complaint(this is for the whole chain) is that most of the drinks are of the syrup variety. A larger real fruit selection would be nice.

Sheesh, I didn’t even know Pearl Castle Café existed in the Old Orchard Shopping Centre! Small space, nice and bright décor. Servers very alert tonight — I can’t even glance around to take in the room without catching their eye and having them immediately veer toward my position! Ginseng Honey Grapefruit Tea($ 5.95) –There’s definitely ginseng inside the pot, but I can’t really taste it. –Quite sweet, no grapefruit bitterness. –Overall tasted like a honey-citrus sort of drink. Disappointing for the lack of ginseng flavour so I can’t really recommend ordering it. Bonus for free wifi. :) Also Old Orchard has lots of free parking for all you car people.

Everything we ordered from the menu was not available. Why not just make new menus? We had to change our choice 4 times because it wasn’t available. I’ve been here 4 times now and it’s been consistently disappointing with not being able to provide the items on the menu. Last time I come here.

This Pearl Castle is located in a medium sized plaza on Kingsway. I had to circle around to finally get into the plaza the right way. We came on a Friday night, the place was maybe ¾ full. We ordered 4 – 5 drinks and the waitress kept on telling us «Sorry we are out or we don’t have it». I got a bit annoyed and wondered why even bother looking at the menu when they don’t have the drinks we want. We finally got our second choice of bbt. They also have a food and snack menu. The place looks decent, nothing fancy. This Pearl Castle is the smallest in size. Quality of drinks and pricing is like any other normal standard Pearl Castle. Plenty of parking available inside plaza.

Probably one of the better BBT shops(for food) that I would go if i’m hungry. The Richmond location is 100x better than this one. I usually get the seafood and pork hotpot which is always consistently made. From working in the industry before… my biggest pet peeve is their service. When you ask for something, they have a tenancy of forgetting about you just seconds after. I would only come to this located compared to Richmond only for the convenience and lazy-ness of driving to Richmond.

I’ve been to the Richmond locations and this one. I’m not sure why but everytime I’ve been to this location everything always tastes a little off. My bubble tea and my food. The service is terrible as expected but SERIOUSLY? I got the passion fruit slush with coconut jelly and pearls. The only thing I was hoping to get out of the drink were the toppings. The passion fruit slush itself tasted so watered down. I’m wondering if this measure the syrup content they put in or nah? I also got my usual milk seafood udon/vermicelli with pork slices. My cabbage was so overcooked it was literally falling apart!!! I’m not sure how you can mess up soup so easily. At least the taste of the soup was the same. Would I come back? Only if I was desperate SMHPEARLCASTLE. SHAMEONYOU!

This place is tucked away in the corner of a strip mall, by IGA Marketplace. I’ve been here a few times now and the service here is a hit and miss. Looks like they only have 2 servers and maybe an owner out front, not including the one making the drinks. Last night a few friends and I got went there after skating and got there around 915pm. Waited for about 10 minutes for a table. By the time we orderes, the server already told me that they may be out of ‘pearls’. Um, a Pearl Castle with pearls? Would it then just be called Castle? ;) The food is good. Had the usual fridd chicken nuggets. Was tender and juicy. My friend had the peppered beef on rice. He said it was really good. I find the other food about average. It is cash only so remember to bring some.

The place is OK with some decent dishes meanwhile not great, more like a 3.5 instead of 4. The door looks small but the inside is much bigger than it looks. The decoration is in contemporary style and they arranged enough lighting for each table. The big coloring changing light wall at the back is nice for bar or club, but kind of weird for the restaurant. It’s strange to see your white rice kept on changing color if your table happen to be in front of the wall. We arrived around 1pm at a week day, and the place was quite packed. We did get a table but the cleaning job was a little rush and I can see some grease from previous customer. The waitress forgot our water for quite a while, until we reminded her. The service definitely needs improvement. The boiled vegetable with meat sauce is disappointing. The food itself is OK, but it’s just a very simple dish everyone can do it home, and it tastes nothing special. Just boil some vegetable and pour meat cause on top of it. That’s it. For a family dish, you expected them to add some touch to it but no, just a plain dish. Fried red-fermented pork is good though. The deep dried skin is crispy and crunchy, while the inside is very tender and juicy. Like the sweet and salty flavor, balanced but not too strong. It would be great when with beer. Very well executed. Pig instestine and pig blood in fire pot is a traditional Chinese dish, with pig delicacies boiled in spicy sour and salty flavored sauce. When properly done, all the flavors are balance with integrated with the pork fat perfectly. Otherwise it’s kind of yuck. This one they made tastes great. The delicacies are tender but not soggy, and the spicy gives the dish a nice kick but not too much. Well done dish. Coconut milk hotpot is a dish I first tried. Generally speaking I like it. The sweetness of coconut milk matches the seafood and cabbage nicely and the portion is big. The only complain though, is the dark stain on cabbage shows me that they’re not very fresh and well selected. And seafood is less than I expected. In summary, it’s a good place for a family lunch if you select the right dishes.

Oh my goodness. Where do I start? Let me preface the fact that we do actually come back here whenever we forget how poor the service is, since it’s so close to home. We order the same things each time and each time, the food is alright… but it’s not the food that’s the problem. The service is just so gosh darn awful here. The servers don’t look like they give the slightest care about their customer service. They’re slow. They’re unresponsive. They ignore you. They are rude. They are distracted by their phones or other servers while you’re trying to frantically get their attention. The food takes FOREVER. Many times, I’ve just gotten up myself to get something like an extra bowl. I’ve never had to wait so long to pay a bill before in my life. It’s like they don’t even want your money. I’ve been served dirty cutlery and bowls. Just awful, disgusting service every time I come here. Definitely don’t come here for the service. Come here if you want a bite and it’s the only thing around that’s open, sure. Like I said, the food’s alright.

Oh gosh I hate this place. I only come back because my boyfriend doesn’t mind the food here. Why do they have a menu when half the stuff isn’t available at that location… Make up your own menu !!! It’s so annoying. Once I find something I want to eat, it’s not available at that location. Anyways, once again, the service isn’t great. Some of the servers can’t even speak English well when I have to ask them questions. The food takes forever to come to the table. They never serve food at the same time as the person I’m with so one of us is halfway done their meal when the other meal comes out. My, this is a horrible restaurant.

Pearl castle is one of the many bbtea places in which I visit regularly, and this time it’s Dr. Yummy’s time to review this place! If your main gripe for restaurants is bad service then good news for you this establishment will disappoint you! Waiters and waitresses are constantly looking on their phones online to no doubt lookup and read websites on how to better serve their customers… infact they sometimes stop their work just to read up! That’s what I call passionate for your work! The food itself was very consistent and very affordable but everyone else’s review complained or mention about the only form of payment accepted was cash! It only make sense that only ballers and rich folk come to eat here as the standards are high and if you got no cash for this place you are not classy/worthy enough to dine here!

We had a really good first experience here despite reading about all the bad reviews. We came shortly after 1 p.m. on a Monday. Seated right away and had good service. The beef noodle soup and the spice chicken were good, would order again. Generous carafe of hot milk tea(S4.75). Despite the low ratings, there certainly is a lot of people coming in to this place so they’re doing something right. Definitely would come here again when we feel like Taiwanese food. Cash only.

Service was atrocious at this location. I wish it was average but it was terrible. I have been to the Richmond location and it is way better. We stood at the door for at least 2 minutes before they even acknowledged us. It took forever for the waitress to take our order even though there were only 2 other tables that already received their food. We had to holler her over 3 times before she came and took our order. The food took forever to come even though it wasn’t busy. The food was ok but the service was definitely a miss. Seriously one waitress for the entire restaurant. These owners need to give their head a shake and hire more staff. What a joke.

I’ve been to the other pearl location in Richmond. The service here is average at best. I only had the beef with black pepper with deep fried chicken knees. Honestly, I think their food is okay but nothing special. The only thing about this place that I liked was their prices. I came here with my family member and with her dish, the bill was $ 25… $ 28 after tip. And there was enough leftovers for us to take home.

Not bad, but not great. Service is very hit or miss, with mostly misses. I didn’t like how beat up the glass tea pot was, and also how the server basically slammed it down on the table. Is anyone in management in charge of this place? Food was alright.

I was recommended this place since I was in the area and it was the only place that wasn’t in the mall that had decent operational hours. I got some noddles, rice and a sweet and sour pork dish. NOT impressed at all. I felt really really sick after. The prices were cheap, customer service was okay, however, I’ve never been this sick before. Not sure if it was me or the food but it didn’t make for a good experience.
