Mr Lube

I’ve been going here for a while now, and everyone has been extremely polite, and efficient. I don’t ever feel like I’m getting swindled in to buying something I don’t need. Plus: this last time they gave me a free in-​car vacuum. How awesome!

Fast service. Great customer service. They were fast and to the point. The good thing was they did not push for upsell. Usually they try to get me buy whole bunch of extras. Not here.

There’s a common theme with Mr. Lube, and that is they try to upswell you on things you do not need.
Whether it’s a transmission flush, engine flush, coolant flush, or add a $ 25 can of this to your oil change (which could be bought at Walmart for $ 4 if you really did nerd it)
I would avoid ALL Mr. Lube chains until they smarten up and become a genuine company.

Classic oversell because I am a woman? Mr. Lube wanted $ 91 plus tax to put synthetic oil in my «turbo-​charged» 2013 Ford Escape Titanium. Synthetic oil I asked? I was assured by the Mr. Lube Technician that that was the Ford factory specification. But it’s not I insisted. Plus, the Ford dealership changes my oil for either $ 59.99 or $ 69.99, depending on whether you want the tires rotated. When I asked why the price was so high, the Technician said he doesn’t set the prices. I decided not to have the oil change done knowing full well my vehicle doesn’t require synthetic oil and they were just trying to rip me off. I drove straight to the dealership to confirm what I already knew… this Ford product does not require synthetic oil nor was the engine built for it. There would be minimal performance enhancement which translates to a waste of money. So it’s back to my mechanic or the dealership for this girl. What was I thinking anyway going to one of these quickie places? Silly girl and lesson learned.

I really needed an oil change… and it was Sunday so a quick service franchise was pretty much my only option.
The price was about $ 55 for my car plus $ 20 to flush the old oil which was a mess. It’s only about $ 20 more then going to a shop and a lot faster, with the added convenience of service on a Sunday I was alright with the extra money.
They offer you coffee, water and a newspaper and you don’t even have to leave your car!
They also wash your windows and do a courtesy inspection on your car. My battery failed which is good to know now so I can replace it before it leaves me stranded somewhere! I also learned that my back tires are bald which I didn’t know cause I don’t know much about tires and was told when I got the car 6 months ago the tires were fairly new. This was nice of them to let me know since checking tire tread isn’t even on their list of things they check in the inspection.
The men in the shop were way more personable and friendly then the Jiffy Lube I previously went to which goes a long way with me in ensuring I come back!

Good, fast service but heinously overpriced. If you need to have your oil changed quickly, this is the place to go. If you have more time, however, I suggest you find a location with better prices. That said, they did not try to sell me anything I didn’t need and were very friendly. I even received a card in the mail that contained two free movie passes a few weeks after my first visit to Mr. Lube to thank me for my patronage. Soooooo, overall it was a good experience.

This Mr Lube location is a great place to have your oil changed. They are probably ok to change any of your other fluids as well with one big big exception. Do not let this location touch your transmission. After having my old cars transmission serviced here it never worked the same again. It shifted poorly every time and would lag in shifting on my automatic transmission. You can probably have them change your lights and any other easy fixes. Take their recommendation of changing your battery with a grain of salt. My battery seemed to be working fine but they told me it was almost dead and I needed to change it. After doing just that I talked to others and they told me that they just try to ever sell you every time you enter their bays.
Be careful with their recommendations but they are great for an oil change.

This is a great place to have your oil changed. It’s fast and reliable and pricing is similar to the dealership, but at Mr. Lube you don’t have to book an appointment which is a plus. I like the fact that they give you a free copy of the Vancouver Sun or Province to read and free coffee. What’s also awesome is the fact that if your oil is running low, they will top it up for free!
