Decent place. Easy menu with pictures. Not as busy as it used to be. I would still go back there whenever I am around the area.

First off, I want everyone who reads this review to know that I created a Unilocal account just to post about this place. We were here on Sunday night as we were invited to a casual work dinner. From the get-go, the hostess was incredibly rude. As the invited, I was not sure how many people were in the group, but as the first person there, I needed to tell them. I told the hostess«seven or eight», and she immediately frowned, rolled her eyes and said ‘HOWMANY?’ She then spoke to a waiter in Korean and said something about not having room for us(the restaurant was half empty). After we were seated, it was a good 10 or 15 minutes before our orders were taken, and it was only after I said(quite loudly) that the restaurant must not want our business. The food came quickly enough, but most of it was inedible. The waiters and waitresses walked by multiple times without saying anything, did not ask whether we needed more tea, and stood around and talked amongst themselves. There is so much more I can say about each cold stare I received from the workers I interacted with in that restaurant, but I think you get the point. I hope this review gets people away from this place. Honestly, I would not want my worst enemy to dine here.

Lacklustre and uninspired Korean food. I don’t understand how they stay in business. I cook better Korea food than this. Been there a few times, both in their downtown and Burnaby locations, and always leave feeling let down by both their service and the food

The food in here was very terrible and services were very bad. I had a really bad experience in here, i will never come back. Please don’t waste your money to go there. They gave me the meat that was left over night and it’s getting sour :( My husband told me that i was so polite when i still even pay for the bill :(. Moreover the cashier gave me the shitty look when i did not pay for the tips. That’s really rude.

I go here mainly for the pork bone soup, delicious!(You can ask for soup refills) The chicken wings are excellent, the seafood pancake is yummy and the stir fried glass noodles are yum. Service had gotten much better than before… I find the male servers more accommodating than the female ones.

Came here with a long time no see friend who is visiting Vancouver. So decided to eat in Burnaby which is close to her place. We came here and ordered the AAA beef ribs and the bulgogi and a soup to share. It was very delicious. Very strong BBQ taste. This place is very authentic according to another friend. But I have noticed most of the people who dine here are not Korean. Price is ok. There are plenty of parking outside in their parking lot. But you have to chase down a waitress if you ever need anything. So service here is ok and is not that great. Would I come back. Yeah if I am in the hood. Since I don’t know many Korean restaurants.

I ordered the pork. Not tasty. I ate lots of pork today. I feel I don’t want eat pork for my entire life now. The side dishes are pretty good. I like the servants. Korean people look better than Chinese

It’s definitely better than 2 stars. The food was served super fast and tastes really good. I would give 4 stars if the server could come to take our order faster and bring the bill to our table instead of paying at the front.

I would never go back again. I actually been there many times for many years but after my last time experience, I just got turned off. My last experience with Jang Mo jib was horrible. I walked out of the restaurant after I got the noodle soup after waiting for 25 minutes. There was only one waitress working at that moment. She was nice and polite. The noodle soup was full of broken pieces of noodles, it seems like they cooked me the left over noodle pieces from the bag. This wasn’t the disappointing part. The most disappointing part was the kimchi. I couldn’t call them kimchi, it was just raw cabbage with slightly marinated with spicy sauce. It was disgusting. I told the waitress that I would not pay for these low quality food, it was made sloppy. The waitress said ok and sorry: I walked out. I told everyone I knew about my experience with Jang Mo Jib restaurant.

I’ve been to different locations(like downtown) of Jang Mo Jib. They all seem to have very similar ambiance — nothing fancy, just come and chill. Although others may not agree, this restaurant(chain) is a go-to place whenever I’m craving for Gam-ja-tang(Pork bone, potato hot pot).

Food was disappointing but the owner lady’s service saved the day. I had to send my order back to the kitchen because my chicken was sour… I used to recommend this restaurant to my friends but I guess I have to find a new restaurant. Not going back for sure.

Overall I was very impressed with this restaurant. I think the key to whether people like or hate it depends in whether they read the ingredients or chose by picture as several dishes are very regional and not for the non-adventurous diners at heart. For my wife and myself we had dumplings, pan-fried… And pork, stir fried with veggies, kimchi and sweet potatoe —- delicious !! The service was quick and friendly — and the owner himself opened the door when he arrived. We will definitely be back and hope other people enjoy the experience we did !

I was shopping in metro and felt like korean but did not want to drive all the way to Hanwoori. This place has lots of parking but is not very clean and smell bad. There was dried up rice stuck in the water cup and the menu didn’t seem like it was wiped properly since its creation. My friend had kalgooksu and I had doen jang soon doo boo. Both were above average. Soon doo boo had generous amount of mushroom and I liked it. The daenjang flavor was just right and not overpowering. The kalgooksoo also was pretty descent with thick soup base with shredded chicken pieces and veges. The cabbage kimchi was too fresh for me(not fermented enough) whereas their raddish kimchee was dryed out and too fermented. But, I liked the marinated potato. By the way, did I mention the place smell bad? It was a blend of rusty iron smell mixed with rotten fish. The service was ok but gosh, the smell just ruined the whole experience for me. To be fair, may be it was just my booth(1)… Anyway, too scared to repeat.

I wasn’t sure why people gave really bad reviews for this restaurant, then again everyone has different opinions. I think they were more friendly to those who are Korean people. I really enjoyed my dol-sot bibimbap, but my sister didn’t really like her spicy rice cake. She didn’t mind eating it, but she said the taste wasn’t strong. My dad also complained about his blood sausage soup’s ingredient was off while my boyfriend’s was alright. They will be nice enough to correct your food if you just ask them nicely. It was very big inside.

I don’t even know why I keep coming back to this place! Seriously, this has got to be the worst restaurant everrrr! Service totally sucks(you can tell they don’t give a shit), and, the inside looks rundown(patches all over the place). It makes me soo sad because I really like their Korean BBQ chicken, chicken wings, short ribs, and so on! AHHH! Food take-out is the best way to go for this place… even that I don’t know anymore.

Have you ever gone to the bathroom at a restaurant and as you were washing your hands, someone in their restaurant uniform exits the other stall and the bathroom without washing their hands? My face in emoticons: D:

I found this restaurant the food quality and taste much better than Richmond. However, the service was slow. We liked the Kim Chi Beef & tofu pot, it’s tasty and not too spicy. Also, BBQ beef ribs was so tender and juicy.

Average service, boring décor, but great food. I feel kinda sad for this branch because it is so quiet if it is not either dinner or lunch time. This branch will close soon if not a lot of people are going. I do enjoy a nice Korean restuarant in the Metro South Burnaby area so I can go drop by with friends. The good thing about this place is the food. Their hot pots is what I die for here… It is so traditional Korean like. I give them a good thumbs up for food. Not a lot of people know but for sure the Hot Pots are the best here! I don’t like their separate dishes here because they are pricey and not appealing to me at all. Their décor here is just UGH. Yes your Murals of paint brush horses, and traditional murals of gardens of Korea is just so bland. Sorry, they are not murals, they are just wall paper… Dislike. On top of that this place used to be a Knight and Day, they kept most of the seats and the placement. It is just horrendous… The service here is sub par. The waiter was very nice with us, as he was trying to communicate, but his English was just not up to par. We barely understood him, but he kinda knew what we were ordering, which was a good thing. Me and friends had a great time, but will only come back maybe for the food and the hot pots, but maybe not for anything else…
