Food was good, authentic, not expensive. Service was okay, attentive, polite. Can’t be happier. ** They accept debit card if your purchase is above $ 10 **

Just a typical HK café located near Metrotown and I had to say the food was good. Service was fast. I came with my sister and we got porkchop on rice and squid tentacles. Porkchop from lunch special menu came with free drink and soup. So I got free Borsht soup and iced milk tea with it. Porkchop combo($ 9) and squid tentacles($ 6) were yummy. Porkchop pieces were big and tender I can just cut with spoon. My milk tea came in a cute mason jar. Drink was good. Food portion was big enough to share and I saw other people taking left overs. Good thing I don’t have to go further to The One. Chef Corner is a busy restaurant full of customers. This restaurant was Korean fried chicken place and then turned into Chinese owned sushi place before Chef Corner. Cash and debit only.

We decided to try this place out late night on a Friday after the gym. This place was a typical HK café type of restaurant so naturally at 10PM at night, there was a late night mini set menu in which we had both ordered from. The boyfriend had the baked pork chop on rice which is usually a good choice. My lactose intolerant self was extremely jealous watching him eat it. It was a normal size, but the pork was made very well. Crispy but tender on the inside! As you can tell I had a tiny, tiny piece. I had the spicy shredded pork with eggplant. I’ve only recently discovered my love for eggplant, but anything that has eggplant in it is good to me! This dish was a bit too saucy for my liking but it was still good. Came with tons of rice — I couldn’t even finish half of it! The service was very good. Staff was attentive, but it took them a couple times to get my order as their English was not great. Still good service though! They were careful to check if they had gotten the right item down. I’d go back there again for late night meals again.

Cute name and average food. We ordered a 2 set lunches. Chicken with red/green peppers, onions and mushrooms stir fry in a sweet/peppery sauce with a side of tofu dish, pickled vegetables and rice. Singapore fried noodles with red peppers, green onions and bean sprouts. Both portions were on the smaller side and the only word to describe the taste was average. The staff were nice, but it took forever to get them to understand what we were asking for. There’s plenty of restaurants in the area so I’ll pass on this one.

This place continues to do very well. I have become a regular and go there at least once a week. Dishes I particularly enjoy are the hainanese chicken, baked pork chop with rice, the sizzling hot plates, the Singaporean vermicelli and the sweet and sour pork. Their hot pot yes it’s a bit on the bland side but I appreciate the clean taste. I guess a dipping sauce should be provided which might solve the problem? But their food is clean and fresh, service is always friendly, price is reasonable. Highly recommended!

Chef Corner is a Hong Kong style Café with a mix of Taiwanese dishes, bubble tea. The food is pretty typical hong kong café style with a nice surprise. Their daily soups are actually surprisingly good! Not the typical borscht or cream of chicken with corn. They also serve stone pot rice dishes similar to a korean bibimbap but with different toppings you can choose from. Aside from that they also have the fish soup noodles that most hong kong type cafes serve. Their sizzling plate hot grill combo is quite a deal at $ 13 you can choose 2 items(chicken steak, pork chop, etc) with soup, toast and a drink. That is definitely my go-to meal at Chef Corner.

I am glad a favorable restaurant has finally took up tenancy at Marlborough court. This HK style café seems to family run and is a great place in the area for HK style food and bubble tea. They also offer other variations of asian style foods like taiwanese and korean menu choices. My favorite dish here is the salt and pepper chicken with noodles — its likely better than most Taiwanese/BBT restaurants around vancouver and richmond that i’ve tried.

I was looking for a place to eat after the big storm/power outage. My usual spots were closed so I tried this place after finding it on Unilocal. To be honest, I was super excited to find a potential new go-to place but was pretty disappointed after my meal. I should have known better but I decided to order the Korean bibimbap… at a Hong Kong Style Café…I know… bad choice. I was hoping to be blown away since other tables were ordering it as well. I wasn’t too impressed with the amount of rice to meat/veggie ratio. In addition, they paired it with a teriyaki or black pepper gravy sauce… if you’re looking for authentic… don’t bother. The veggies were bland and the meat was overcooked. My egg was also popped/overcooked. My boyfriend got a stir-fry noodle dish which barely had any meat and way too much sauce. The drinks were average and to standard… don’t plan to come back as the food wasn’t that special.

I like this place quite a bit. Opens late and the garlic honey chicken is really good. I like their menu and also the price is great. The food is hot. The service is good and the dishes are clean. They even have alcohol license

It’s really hard to find places open late in our part of Burnaby. Chef Corner is a small Hong Kong style café, with some interesting additions. The bibimbap menu choice is cool(though I didn’t try it this time), and there are some different items available than those at Honolulu Café. How else is it different from HC? Smaller, better service, cleaner AND they take debit cards! That’s a big deal! My husband had the mixed grill, opting for the pork chop and pork cutlet. Both were bone-in. Both were cooked perfectly and tasted delicious. The vegetables might have been raw when they were placed on the sizzling hot metal plate(although the broccoli looked blanched to me). He was very happy with his meal, which came with a hot drink,(a tasty but mysterious) soup and toast, and a large portion of rice. I ordered two items off the snack menu. A green onion pancake and crispy salt and pepper chicken. The pancake was probably not homemade. So it was good, but not great. The chicken was great, though. Perfectly fried, with a side of sweet chili sauce. They served a mystery tea during the meal. We’re pretty sure it’s the same tea as is served at HC, but precisely what that tea is. we have no idea. It’s perfectly drinkable, once it cools down, but… Anyway, we’ll probably be back again. It’s closer than HC and better, by far.

This was a pleasant find. Chef Corner is your typical HK style café with lots of baked western dishes, «make your own noodle soup» options, and even Korean-style bibimbaps. It was quite empty when we visited on a Monday mid-afternoon but the waitresses were attentive and helpful. Most meals come with a drink, if you order from the lunch meals sheet you get a drink AND a bowl of soup. That day it was pumpkin soup and it was sooo good! In fact, when I got home I had to go and make a fresh batch of pumpkin soup myself as I was still thinking about it when we left. We shared the baked pork chop on rice and the Korean style bibimbap –with the bibimbap you get to choose from 4 different meats, and 4 different sauces to DIY your own hot stone bowl. Both dishes did not disappoint! I will definitely be back again –the only downside to this location of the old Black Dragon Sushi(RIP my go-to workplace sushi delivery) is that there is only pay parking in the area(meter or underground parking). Check this place out before it starts getting lineups!

The restaurant opens late. If you like to eat out late, this is another place for you to go. Server is attentive and interior is clean. However, like many other Chinese restaurants, the food smell is all over the restaurant. The food is more like Hong Kong style. Similar like those HK tea Café dishes. Taste is average though. However when it’s after 9pm and nowhere else to go, this could be an alright choice.

We were just at ncix and decided we wanted Taiwanese food. This place was across the street so we thought why not? Street parking so we had to pay at the meter. $ 1 for an hour. Went in and the service was pretty attentive, we were seated immediately and they even had a plastic cup of water for the kid. They even brought out plastic bowl and spoon for her too. We ordered the Taiwanese beef noodle soup– broth was good not greasy and the salty peppery chicken– this was okay, definitely have had better. We also had the deep fried mantou this was good but $ 4 is overpriced for what you get. Our bill came to $ 24 including tax and tip. The restaurant is clean and I would come back again. Also they only take cash or debit here Next time I’ll try there bubble tea.
