Biggest selection of hot Chinese desserts that I know of. New fresh interior. Friendly staff. I see the effort they put into their dish. Bubble waffle could be more crispy in my opinion.

I saw this reviewed on the front page of Unilocal on December 11th and book marked it for future reference. I will be honest in saying that the words, «Candy Tree Dessert» is what grabbed my attention. This place is within walking distance from Patterson station, therefore, came here on the way to show while doing a park and ride. It is tucked away, therefore, unless you know that it is here or by foot, it doesn’t get a lot of drive by recognition. The hours of operation are from late afternoon to late in the night which allows for a lot of options afterwork and if one has a craving for dessert. Interior is small, clean with a weird blue light at the main counter that doesn’t go with the décor but I just went with it. Customer service was a bit cold. It was nothing specific that was said as it was the demeanour. The other owner kept asking, more like passively insisting, that I have it to go even though no one was around. I ordered the caramel milk bubble tea which was way too sweet. They charge you extra for the pearls which they’re skimpy on. Complementary hot tea while you wait. Free wifi, therefore, was able to work on my zine. I was tempted on the shaved ice, however, the price tag was $ 15. No where on the menu does it say how much the shaved ice is, therefore, not sure if the price is real or not. Comes with 3 portions of skimpy fruit at an overly high priced.

A small new place specializes in Hong Kong desserts. Very new and clean. We ordered a «mango pomelo sago soup» and a «mixed sweet potatoes on ginger tea with mini rice balls». The mango soup is a bit too creamy and heavy with very little fresh element to it, not enough mango meat(they use frozen mangoes thawed since mangoes are not in season). Now, I don’t know why I ordered the sweet potato dessert, I feel silly because it is literally cooked sweet potato chopped up in large pieces soaked in super sweet gingery water, with a few rice balls. I didn’t expect it come out like that, I was frankly speaking stunned for a good three seconds staring at my «dessert» lol. Maybe I’m a noob for HK style desserts, I’ve never been able to truly enjoy a HK dessert yet. A lot of stuff involve hot sugary water somehow.
