Great space with plenty of natural light and high ceilings. Nice presentation of the food items. Came by just after opening(around 6:30 am) to meet a co-worker and went with a chocolate zucchini muffin and a regular coffee. I found the muffin a little bland and dry. The coffee was nice and full bodied and you can tell they use good quality beans. Prices are in line with Artigiano’s and Starbucks. The server was pleasant and attentive. It was a positive coffee experience.

High ceilings, big windows, lost of space… it’s a pretty great coffee shop to get some work done, and it looked like lots of others were doing the same. I think the scone was good(inhaled it too fast to actually taste it), and the americano was *amazing* — I especially liked the little cookie(who doesn’t like little cookies?). But it seemed kinda pricey and a tad uncomfy for my liking. A solid choice for coffee though.

Much better than Artigiano, especially when it comes to their baked goods and food. Their food is made and baked fresh on the premises, and they use quality ingredients, with recipes for Gluten free or vegans as well — and they seem to add new items every once in awhile instead of sticking to the same-old same-old. One other thing I learned: Artigiano(a block away) imports Intelligentsia beans, whereas Divano stayed local with 49th parallel, which deserves a shout-out. The coffee is a notch above Artigiano’s but Divanos space is smaller. Service is good, and the place is clean. Parking is available in heaps in back.

It was highly recommended to me, I found the Asian girl behind the counter unfriendly, the food mediocre, chicken wrap that was microwaved before grilled, with«pace» bottled salsa, over priced, how ever the coffee was very good

Cozy, clean and decent ambiance. Not much in the pastry selection, however, their pre-made sandwiches are okay. Latte was actually decent. Prices were fair and customer service was awesome.

Scones and sandwiches are very tasty. The service is friendly and the atmosphere is great. The coffee is very strong — which not everyone likes. I am a big fan of their iced lattes.

Would be a great coffee shop if it was actually a coffee shop. But it’s just a glorified study hall. Too bad. Don’t expect to get seating.

Fresh, airy, open space with excellent coffee and brunch fare. A great place for a relaxed Saturday-morning start.

I LOVE this place! If you like real coffee, this is the place for you! I have tried the cappuccino and it was absolutely fantastic, rich, creamy, perfect temperature, and the coffee that was used was very good as well. The café has a great vibe, great décor and an overall great feel to it. I would say this is a 5 star place, but I had a 4 star experience there, since I saw some fruit flies over the baked goods and I asked the barista if that was common. I was told this is nothing to worry about, as they are ‘pretty harmless’… not impressed! :)

I come here a lot and love it. They make great espresso and have amazing staff. Sparkling water with your espresso is a great touch. The little cookie doesn’t hurt also.

My favourite coffee shop in the Heights! They use Parallel 49 coffee beans and make excellent specialty coffees(cappucinos, americanos, etc.). I usually go for just coffee but they have a good food selection too for breakfast/lunch/snacks. I recommend the scones or their in house made granola. Great for kids too as they have high chairs and lots of goodies(monster cookies, oatmeal raisin, etc.) Free Wifi, clean, comfy seating, and friendly staff.

Best coffee around. My go– to place for real coffee flavours. Their brewed dark roast is well-balanced with earthy notes just enough to linger in the palette. Late afternoons close to closing they do run out of dark roast. That’s because they have a freshness standard or because they don’t have enough dark roast fans to justify brewing a new pot near closing. I hope the latter is not the case.

Please note: my husband & I had the Proscuitto & Boccocini sandwich: the Proscuitto was«Awful»!! It definitely wasn’t fresh… both of us removed the Proscuitto — it was very rubbery & I know it was Old & Not Fresh! The cappucino both ordered was warm not Hot … in future, we will both go to Café Artigiano as their prices are about the same which is expensive for a lunch that cost us $ 23.05… very disappointed with this Coffee Bar… I did fill out a survey but I’m sure that was thrown out as I know the staff wouldn’t be happy with my remarks. We won’t be back to this Coffee Bar any time soon. Oh yes, Café Artigiano makes a lovely Hot Cappucino! Shirley P.

Great place, decent coffee and yummy treats. A little expensive but the food is tasty. They have messed up a few of my orders but the staff is very friendly if there is a problem. I live really close so it’s great to walk here for a coffee and cookie.

great food & tons of variety; good coffee, friendly staff; comfortable atmosphere and still up-and-coming so it’s not overcrowded if you’re looking for a change of scenery from your desk. The neighbourhood, as well, is slowing being built up, so it’ll be a great little hub soon

I ordered a latte and a roasted chicken arugula sandwich in baguette. The latte was bitter and lacked the the deep sweet crema which I’m used to from Ethical Beans café and Matchstick. Divanos latte was very similar to Café Artigiano which I can not recommend. The sandwich had chicken roasted in house, argula and soft white cheese which was probably goat cheese. The argula and the goat cheese addded too much bitterness to the sandwich. I would have added something slightly sweet to balance out the bitter. Perhaps some kind of dried fruit. There was balsamic vinegar in the sanwich but it did nothing to add any sweetness. I wouldn’t recommend Divanos if you are looking for a fullfiling experience. In a pinch Divanos will do as they have a nice interior and even offer an app to order your coffees from the road.

Not bad at all. I’m often excited then disappointed when I try 49th p espresso at other non-49th cafés, so I didn’t have high expectations for Divano. I ordered a wet capp and it didn’t have that rich body I was looking for(prob due to the pull), but it was definitely gentle on the tongue — excellent milk balance. I was also surprised by the temperature as it was hotter than average which is exactly how I like my espresso drinks. Would love to see how they do with Matchstick roast.

I always complain that North Burnaby has been taken over by chains, so it’s great to see a local place like this opening up. I only had the drip coffee, but it was Parallel 49 and was delicious. I still think that I prefer the lattes at Café Artigiano, which is just a few blocks away, however I find that location often has a lot of people studying(myself included, back in the day) so I felt bad having long conversations catching up with friends. Café Divano isn’t noisy, but you don’t feel as if you’re disrupting someone trying to fuel themselves with caffeine to finish a paper due in the next day. One thing that really impressed me was that they had a catalogue of all the ingredients in their baked goods. I have an almond allergy, and I’m always apprehensive about buying baked goods at a café because normally they don’t know what’s in their food or are afraid to say anything for certain because of liability. When I asked, the cashier pulled out a big binder and was able to tell me what was safe to eat(the item I chose was new and not included, but she was able to offer a couple of safe suggestions to me instead). That alone would keep me coming back. I found it a bit awkward that they also seem to be using the café to sell the new condos just built upstairs-there was a model of the building and a woman standing with information about the units for sale. Obviously this will go away once the units are all sold, but it did make for a slightly weird vibe on the Sunday I visited.

Thank goodness we missed the early showing at Dolphin Cinemas across the street or we wouldn’t have experienced Caffe Divano! I was wowed the minute I walked into the shop. For one thing, the space is large and bright with high ceilings. The kitchen is home-sized, one half dedicated to the in-house baked goods, the espresso machine on the other half gleams and beckons under the amazing, artistic lighting. The opulence does not over state the quality. We were in luck because Matchstick was making a brief appearance but 49thP is what you will likely find.

It’s great to see another coffee shop in the Burnaby Heights area that isn’t a Starbucks or owned by Starbucks. Welcome to the neighbourhood, Caffe Divano! I’ve been here on two occasions and I’ve enjoyed both visits. The staff are friendly, the atmosphere is cozy, and the aroma from the luscious teas and 49th Parallel coffee beans that emanate the place is entrancing. However, there is one reason why I couldn’t give this place the four stars it naturally deserves. Of the two times I visited, I observed fruit flies dancing around the baked goods that are left out in the open. It’s a bit of a turnoff, but manageable I’d assume. Hopefully during future visits, they’ll be pest free! All-in-all, the teas and coffee here are enjoyable — even more so with a biscuit or cookie. If you fancy a good cup of joe that’s sold at a reasonable price, or a place to relax and read a book or paper, Caffe Divano welcomes you!
