Sophia’s Bakery & Cafe

A dedicated gluten free bakery with lots of yummy options. Between 1130-​230 Sophia’s offers soup, sandwich, a cupcake and a drink for $ 10. I had the fantastic tomato soup (which was a huge bowl), a mixed deli sandwich (also huge) and what I thought was a plain vanilla cupcake until I found the surprise custard inside! Even my non gf hubby loved the lunch. The bread was so good I took a loaf home along with a sweet treat. If you are gf this is a must stop for you.

What a pleasure to discover Sophia’s! I was visiting Brantford from a larger and more «gluten aware» city and Sophia’s was a welcoming and delicious haven from all the wheat in this town. I went back nearly every day I was there.
Now, don’t let the fact that they are Brantford’s only dedicated gluten-​free bakery/​café fool you into thinking you’re settling — everything I tried here was fantastic! And the bread? Best GF bread I have ever had and I have tried A LOT. I shared a lemon square (Yes, you do want one) with my Mom, who is a baking aficionado, and she was shocked that it was gluten-​free.
I’d give you 10 stars if I could. Thanks, Sophia’s, for giving GF living in Brantford and area more visibility and for making it SO DELICIOUS!
