This place seems to be one of the few independent coffee shops in Brantford so I really wanted to like it. To be fair, I didn’t get the full experience though because I was trying to order a chicken caesar wrap but the cash register froze for a little bit and I settled for a chocolate chip muffin because I was running out of time and couldn’t wait for the wrap. The muffin was pretty good although not mind-blowing. I also ordered a latte. It was alright. Maybe better than Starbucks but that’s not too hard to achieve. Also, the interior is cozy. On the downside, the cashier did not seem like she wanted to be there at all. Also, I was told the wi-fi would stop working at noon for about 30 minutes(I think?). No explanation was given for that, which was odd since wi-fi is pretty essential for a coffee shop.

What a great little coffee place located in Brantford. We were passing through and wanted to stop for about an hour with our laptops, so we had a quick look on Unilocal and came across reviews for this place. It’s in a cool building on Brant Avenue and has a nice, big patio out front. It was really hot the day we visited, so we ordered iced mochas(with whipped cream just to be decadent). They were absolutely delicious, although not what we’re used to. They tasted a bit more like a chocolate milkshake, but we weren’t complaining as they were really, really good. They offer free wi-fi(a bit slow). The staff were very friendly and helpful and the drinks were made very quickly. The café was very clean and really interestingly decorated with kitchy little touches. The washrooms were also very clean and tidy. I have nothing negative at all to say about this place. If we find ourselves in Brantford again, we’ll most definitely give it another visit.

Love the Blue Dog. Great historic building on Brant ave. Staff is great and food is great. A little pricey but always good to support independent places.

I went to Brantford to visit a former roommate. She is originally from England and was surprised to find out she would be staying in Brantford for a few months. I’ve only know Brantford as a dodgy city that most people try to avoid. However checking out this little coffee shop instilled some Brantford charm into me! It is a cute little coffee shop in an area of old almost Victorian styled homes and the coffee shops atmosphere was very warm and welcoming. It was pretty quiet when we arrived but as time went on(3 hours of catching up) the place had a steady flow of people. The servers were pretty helpful and you know that they have a great deal of regular customers. I ordered a chai tea latte which was pretty good. Unlike Starbucks I didn’t have to ask for«no water». They have a pretty decent menu if you’re looking for something a little heavier than your classic Starbucks snacks. If I know anyone going to Brantford who enjoy good organic coffee I would definitely recommend this place!

I would recommend Blue Dog to anybody that loves a fresh cup of joe and trendy fresh foods. I can only give positive feedback as I was able to order and take home freshly made oven baked pizza in the a.m. The price is a bit steep but it’s worth the money IMO. Cheers!

My favourite local place to grab a tea and a quick bite when I’m in Brantford. It’s located inside an old Victorian style house and is very cozy. Service is friendly and prompt. Family friendly establishment.

This place is cute. Décor is current, and the armchairs are cozy. There’s enough seating for smaller groups. The soup was okay but it tasted like it came out of a can. Nothing in this place was homemade except maybe their sandwiches. I’m not sure about the sandwiches cause I never had one, so it is difficult for me to comment. I tried their shrimp and it was frozen. It is part of the trendy coffee consumption that people desire. I do like that they had Orangina which you can’t find in any chain coffee house or restaurant. They have a nice patio. It is nice that they are busy enough to be open later at night. This means that they have a good following. Parking is very tight. It is always difficult to find a parking spot without trying to double park someone, but if their main customer base is walk-ins then that is fine. If they got enough of a following they could franchise it like Brown Dog has in St. George, Paris, and now Brantford.

Wow, what a little gem of the Brantford area! I popped by here one sunny summer day while visiting a friend in Brantford, determined to find a café with some good coffee & free wifi to hang out in for a bit. I found just that & more at Blue Dog! At first glance you see a nice little patio out front if you’re looking to enjoy the sun. The inside of Blue Dog is deceivingly large, with plenty of seating(booths, high tables, regular tables, etc.). The coffee and tea menu has lots of options, and I opted for the Iced White Chocolate Caramel Mocha. Mmm mmm, good! There are also smoothies and steamers available, if you’re looking for a non-caffeinated option. In addition to the coffee, blue dog offers some general lunch options(salads, soups, paninis, wraps, etc.), pastries, as well as a small and delicious looking appetizers/tapas menu(and they have half off tapas on Fridays!) I didn’t get a chance to try the food but I definitely will next time I am back in the area! If you find yourself in the small town of Brantford, make sure to visit here for a coffee fix!

A wonderful gem on Brant Ave. Excellent coffee and espresso, as well as a great lunch options. If more places like this opened up in the area the street would crawl to a halt — it’s that great.

Great coffee & service. Sandwiches are fresh and daily soup or chili is always a safe bet for a good lunch. The panini & soup combo is great value. Always take home a pound of their coffee.

Gourmet coffee and fresh baked goods and food. I had some soup as well and it was really great, tasted like it was home made which wins big points with me. It’s a very nice, casual café and it just feels comfortable there!
