This Starbucks definitely needs training. I went recently for a drink which is on their websites menu(coconut mocha frap) and the girl had no idea how to make it… Unfortunately it was the worst tasting frap I have ever had and very watery. It takes longer than usual to make a drink here as well which is frustrating as well. Never usually a large line though, so at least they balance out. They aren’t the friendliest baristas here either unfortunately. It’s a basic Starbucks inside a chapters where the drinks are just okay.

I come here very frequently, once or twice a week and I used to be able to say that this is the best coffee, I used to love Starbucks and this location. However, lately I have been getting just okay service and products. It started with the pumpkin spice latte, a past favorite of mine that turned out to be overly sweet with bits of hard sugar in the drink. It continued with the caramel frappuccino, which tasted very odd to me. I have just been very unimpressed with the products I don’t even really want to go back. The service has been lacking as well, rude staff who forget your drink was supposed to be lactose free and then accuse you of not ordering lactose free milk even though your drink cost close to seven dollars because you clearly PAID for lactose free milk. I will probably come back for the Christmas drinks but really, Starbucks is no longer worth my time or money.

I particularly love this Starbucks location because a) it doesn’t smell weird — it smells like coffee(if you have visited the Starbucks by Bramalea City Centre, you will know what I mean), b) they are FAST, c) the staff is friendly and d) Uh, it’s starbucks. What’s not to like? The bookstore means that the tables are usually full, and it’s quite hard to find a seat, but I’m usually in-and-out, so it’s no problem for me. I do think if they added more seating, they could increase their business. The set up is nice — the products that can be purchased are kind of dispersed throughout the store so you can window shop while you wait in line. The staff are wonderful — friendly, efficient, funny, etc. If you live in the area, this is the place to be.

How am I reviewing another Starbucks?(Because it’s a first review and I find meaningless trophies irresistible, clearly). This place is fine for what it is. A good number of tables, though the bookstore crowd tends to take up a few so you can’t always get a seat, friendly, competent staff with low turnover, which I take as a good sign. Recently remodeled, the place looks sharp in rough hewn wood and(pretend) exposed brick but the seamless blend into chapters harshes the coffee house vibe. Pro-tip: they’re hidden when you’re at the counter, but there are a couple of comfy chairs beside a fireplace around the corner to the right. Good place to curl up with your recent book purchases and a coffee, if they’re free.
