Sushi Buffet, at night, in this place, is a nightmare. Warning: may need to wait more than 10 minutes or so. It all depends on the number of people you bring with you. It was just the two of us that Saturday night and we waited five minutes or less. However we were the not the first one to wait: thank you to the lady and her family of three who waited longer than us and were seated later than us. She told us that the server was looking for a party of two, that’s why we did not end up waiting as long as her: 15 minutes or more. On to the food: sashimi and sushi were good. Not the greatest above RH area, and here is why. THe fish slices were frozen! Yes, the white tuna was not even thawed completely. No worries, I’m not angry enough to lower the rating because I’m still satisfied. Salmon rose was delicious, so yay. The appetizers were great: beef enoki, beef &onion, beef teriyaki, popcorn chicken, etc. I did not like the seafood orders. Seaweed was great, as always. Miso soup was watered down, so not my favourite. The tablet ordering was accurate and timely. We were able to see what we ordered all night. If my tummy could eat more than two rolls with one other person, I would order lots more. Same thing with their dessert: frozen cheesecake that should be thawed. It was rock hard! Would I come back? Yeah, so must not be that bad, eh?

My boyfriend, my best friend and I swear by diamond. Amazing prices for a filling lunch/dinner, and the food is something to talk about! From presentation to service they have it on lockdown! Good work diamond, I recommend to all my friends! About to pick up an order of spicy card meat maci, can’t wait :)

The best sushi place in Barrie probably. The restaurant looks a little bit old and didn’t have fancy tables and decorations. Bue they use ipad to order which is super easy to see what the real food looks like and easy to order. I like their teriyaki and sashimi.

Great place. Food is fast and fresh. The all you can eat feature is excellent. You order on a tablet and it comes out right away. I recommend to anybody

One of the best sushi places I have gone to. Some of the ingredients are much more premium than I would expect for an all-you-can-eat restaurant. The prices are very fair and the staff is efficient and lovely. I would highly recommend this even if it happens to be a little longer drive. I will be back!

All you can eat sushi! And we eat a lot! It’s delicious. The only sushi place we go to. No need to try anywhere else. Be prepared to have someone else’s order delivered to your table a few times of the course of the meal but they don’t really give you any hassle when you tell them you didn’t order it. But great food and fast service!

Good sushi. Ordering is done on an iPad, which is nice because you’re never waiting around for the server to come back to take your orders. Others have posted lots of pictures so I don’t need to. I particularly liked their Special Roll that had the salmon slice on top, inside the sushi roll there was avocado, shrimp tempura, crab, cucumber, and whatever their mayo sauce was. I also really enjoyed the beef short ribs. I went on a Friday for lunch at 1:30pm. Price for one adult for all-you-can-eat Lunch on this day was $ 15.99.

Food Quality Amazing, best Sushi I’ve ever had. Customer Service leaves a lot to be desired. Firstly they do not take reservations, which is crazy considering how busy it can be. Secondly there is often mix-ups in terms of orders

I’ve eaten here twice & both times were excellent. I could eat the shrimp tempura forever. The seating isn’t the greatest, but the food more than makes up for it. Service is okay, you get to order off an iPad which I found extremely convenient, although I wish it had descriptions to go along with the pictures. Food is made quickly, and they have beer! For those who complain about the service, I can understand why. The servers do stand around and chat, and although both times the servers were generally attentive, at one point they all sat down at a nearby table to eat. It seemed a little strange, but I guess they have to eat lunch somewhere. The biggest downside was that there was nobody left to bring us our order which was sitting on the counter waiting. Price is really reasonable, and the sushi is really good, so I’ll keep coming back.

I come here often. All you can eat sushi with a lot of selection. Lots of very unique maki rolls a huge selection of hand rolls. Also don’t be afraid to try some of their special rolls which has rolls with bacon in it. And even rolls with bananas in it. The service is pretty quick and the food is very delicious and for what you pay and for what I can generally chow down, the price is very fair.

First time here, super fresh but not a huge selection for lunch. Took a look at the dinner menu and will definitely be bringing our friends back! Spicy miso is ok, salmon sushi was a big portion and really good!

The first time I ever tried sushi was at Diamond Sushi. 2 yrs later I’m still obsessed with this place. I now live 1hr north of Barrie, so when my BF passes through Barrie from Toronto I always get him to pick up take out. The packing job they do in the containers or platter is great to fit in our cooler. The price is great and so is the food!

I’ve been going to Diamond every time I’m in Barrie since 2010. Diamond is a great spot to meet up and enjoy some of Barrie’s finest sushi, sashimi and other tasty delights. I like to start with edemame, and then sashimi(at dinner) or sushi(at lunch). As other reviews suggest, the dessert, both mango pudding and deep fried bananas are definitely worth saving room for. Their service has drastically improved since the last time I was there, with more servers whose first language is English. The one thing I dislike is the open concept seating. It’s basically a large room crammed with seating and it can feel cramped sometimes. When they’re busy, it does have a tendency to get quite loud. If you or one of your friends are not the biggest fan of sushi in general, the sliced thin and marinated ribs are absolutely to die for, and it’s AYCE! This restaurant and the ribs are the only reason my boyfriend agreed to go the first time, and we fondly discuss and salivate about Diamond when we are home in Nova Scotia. You should also know there’s a discount for paying cash.

Gross. Everything was mushy with no texture. Avocado looked brown and the water smelled. This is my second time here because I had a gift card, I wouldn’t otherwise pay to eat here.

I don’t know what«Miyako S» was served but my experience at Diamond was a complete opposite of her’s. I had lived in Barrie on/off for school over 3 years and had tried every AYCE sushi place in the city. Previously most of my sushi eating was at either Akira or Aji Sai as they were in the north-end of Barrie, closer to where I lived. Upon returning to the city for a visit a friend suggested the newly opened(to me) Diamond Sushi for dinner. Of course, I was more than happy to try a new sushi place. Upon arriving the restaurant looked clean and inviting. Diamond’s menu features a wide selection of appetizers, sushi, sashimi(only at dinner), maki, udon, rice, teppanyaki, and tempura choices to suit the taste of any hungry patron. The three of us ordered various appetizers, rolls, sashimi, and rice dishes. We found the rolls to be very fresh tasting and well prepared, especially since the proportions of rice and fish/veggies were spot on. All too often I find AYCE restaurants overload the rolls with rice to avoid having to use more expensive ingredients and to fill diners up faster. As with any dinner sushi experience, the sashimi is very important. Aside from a few pieces of red snapper that were still slightly frozen, the salmon, white tuna, and surf clam tasted flesh and had a good texture. Diamond also has many creative options including several rolls made with rice paper(such as the snow roll, a personal favorite). The dessert choices include several varieties of ice-cream, vanilla or mango pudding, and banana tempura. I tried the mango pudding and was surprised to see it was a molded gelatinous type rather than the smoother kind I am used to. They decorate it with a warm vanilla sauce which was amazing. I had never had such a good dessert at any AYCE sushi restaurant. I also opted for the fried banana which came by the slice and was topped with a chocolate sauce. Once again, very tasty(and sweet). The desserts are definitely worth saving room for. My only negative comment would be that the red snapper sashimi slices arrived frozen to the table. I am guessing they leave the fish frozen in order to make slicing thin pieces easier. Being that we ate on a Monday evening the restaurant wasn’t busy and therefore the service was prompt and we received all of the orders. I therefore cannot comment on the complaints many patrons of this restaurant had regarding the slow service and incorrect orders.
