Ola and Olivier try their utmost best to make this Brasserie the best one in Sint-Niklaas(my hometown), and I think they’ve succeeded. We come here every Friday after choir practice, expect to hear us singing when one of us buys a drink :). The atmosphere is decidedly better than that of its competitors. They serve great food at a reasonable price, probably because it’s all still very new to them and they are very motivated. Be sure to try any of the specials on the menu! The mussels«of the house» are delicious(only in season). The lasagnes are fantastic, especially the one with lamb. If you want traditional Belgian food, try the«Vlaamse stoverij». Ola — the cook — is also quite good at Italian style dishes and the typical French cuisine such as Steak au poivre(peppercorn steak). Free WiFi is available on request and is very good. The kitchen can be open quite late in weekends, especially if you call ahead to let them know you’re coming. They speak a lot of languages, amongst which Polish! The only negative thing of note is that they don’t have one of Belgium’s most popular beers, called«Duvel». We regularly let them know, too :). The place is quite good for a romantic outing. They have plenty of tables that can accommodate couples on the ground floor. In the weekends the music is rather«loungy» after 11pm. This restaurant is located on the Grote Markt of Sint-Niklaas, the second largest marketplace in Europe after the Red Square in Moscow. It’s about 100m from the Ibis Hotel, and on the same side of the market place. There is ample parking under the market, and it’s free on Saturday afternoon. One last thing to note is that they are capable of accommodating groups on the second floor(please call them so they can make arrangements!).
