i do not drink beer. unless am in Belgium, that is. the tasty degustation here had amber, blond, scotch, champagne and cherry ales with a generous bowl of cheese. didn’t finish this all by myself but definitely got a verrry happy buzz from my half of it.

Eviter la Grand Place de Bruxelles est impossible ! Vous admirerez l’Hôtel de Ville et les hautes façades monumentales d… es riches maisons des corporations, débordantes de décorations. «Les Brasseurs de la Grand Place» vous accueillent et vous régalent de leur bière brassée sur place. Les affamés sont ici à la bonne adresse et se régaleront de délicieuses spécialités belges. En effet, bien qu’épisodiquement notre maison a été le lieu de différents commerces: épicerie, droguerie, salle de concert, elle a avant tout été un café renommé depuis le XIVème siècle. C’est donc le plus ancien café de la Grand-Place. Suite à un incendie, la maison de la Balance devient une des plus belles Micro-Brasseries de Belgique, rajoutant encore du cachet et de la personnalité au lieu. Nur der Regen treibt mich hier rein. Teures Bier und schlechte Musik(What a Feeling, Irene Cara oder so). Aber wenigstens zentral, so das man schnell weiterziehen kann, wenn es trocken ist.

This place would probably be worth a star more if it was a bit cheaper, but I guess its location in the corner of the grand place demands that it charge an appropriate tourist tax. The best priced beers are the house beers. As these are quite good and can’t be found elsewhere I would seriously recommend you go for one of them, or even get the taster tray to sample all 4 if you cannot decide. They serve food too, which is alright but perhaps also a bit overpriced. I went for the local delicacy, the Carbonade. but wasn’t really that impressed. A cheap tip is to go for the cheese and meat cubes off the snack menu. You should find that they fill you up as much if not more than a main meal, especially with a couple of chunks of baguette to eat with.
