A great, atmospheric little restaurant right in the heart of the old town of Antwerpen, it’s pretty easy to get a table but the place is always almost full. The food — especially the meat — is just phenomenal, the kitchen knows how to make very good, high-quality meat dishes better than most of the places I’ve been to. The service varies — the owner can be sometimes a bit of a hardass and some other staff members should also learn to smile, but there’s also nice waitresses there.

Beware if you are traveling on business and are having a meal on your own. A lot of restaurants in the historic city center turn their nose up at you. This was of the three I tried one evening. Waitress may no attempt to if there was a way to accommodate another diner. Never got to taste the food even though previous good reviews brought me there.

Dropped in on the chance a quaint cubby hole may have some yummy food. And I was not disappointed ! Flemish menu revealed a nice selection of steak and lamb, to order with delicious sauces to taste. I picked the filet Mignon with mustard cream sauce which came on a well designed plate in a pour gravy ceramic dish. Huge potato with 4 oz of garlic butter packed inside and a modest well balance salad on the side. Just s perfect blend of color and taste. The waitress was patient with us and explained the menu well. Just a great experience in the old city with all the nostalgia of Antwerp. Definitely close to city center without the tourist feel.
