Me and my mom stopped in quickly for tea and coffee. It was quaint and quick and did the job of warming us up. Not very memorable, but I didn’t try the food, I only know about the drinks.

We had our first true Belgian Waffle experience here and it was absolutely amazing! This tiny little shop is a great place to rest your heels after shopping till you drop and since it’s located in one of the major shopping areas, it’s easily accessible. Although ‘t Bieke’s menu covers savory food, the real star here is their dessert menu. They serve up the most delicious Bruxelles style waffles and for a few extra euro, you can get a scoop of their homemade ice cream. We ordered one waffle with a side of whipped cream and a scoop of pistachio ice cream. To be fair(and because my boyfriend likes to eat his serving and mine!), I split the waffle right down the middle, as well as the scoop of ice cream, and pushed them to opposite sides of the plate. Once I took the first bite, I didn’t come up for air until the entire thing was devoured! I can’t even describe how tasty the waffle was. It’s super thin, light and a little crispy around the edges. I don’t know how they do it, but I’m dying to figure it out so that I can make them at home. The pistachio ice cream was some of the best I’ve ever had. Creamy, not overly sweet with a fantastic nutty flavor. The perfect accompaniment to the light and crispy waffle. We each ordered a café americano, which is essentially a latte. It’s not the most amazing latte we’ve ever tasted, but the espresso was nicely balanced, not bitter and served at the right temperature along with a little cookie. Total = 12Euro.

An ice cream saloon in Antwerp. They serve ice cream, pancakes, wafles(from Brussels, not from Liège!). We sat at the inside, the food was good but the atmosphere was not really cosy. And at the toilet there was no soap and there was not a lot of water coming out of the tub…
