I had a standard single room which was small in the way that European hotel rooms are. The shower was small but the water was hot and the spray strong. My room was clean and very pleasant. The breakfast was good — a selection of breads, cheeses, and pastries with an option for eggs. The grounds of the hotel are beautiful and it is located directly next to a gorgeous botanical garden. Note that the hotel front desk is only staffed from 7 — 10:30. My only real complaint was that the internet was unreliable while I was there and the password kept changing. Since this sometimes happened after the front desk closed, I was left without internet for the entire night.

I booked a ‘suite’ here which showed in the pictures as a large sitting area with an upstairs sleeping area. When I first arrived, I was mistakenly brought to a standard single room on the first floor. My goodness! It looked like something from a prison — a very small room with a single bed(only sheets on it) and a TV. I didn’t see the bathroom as they quickly discovered their mistake. However, seeing this standard room makes me hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone. If I had had the misfortune to stay in that room, I would offer one star. My room, true to the advertisement, was large with two stories. Pros The service at this hotel is over-the-top; everyone went out of their way to help. The breakfast area is modern and clean and the food is good. Cons 1. I don’t note any air conditioning but for the heat there is no temperature control only individual adjustments on radiators. The room was either hot or cold during my three day stay — never comfortable. 2. The rooms need work. The bathroom in my room had recently been redone but the carpet in the room was really bad — old, bare and showing signs on water damage. The bed was really two single beds pushed together… I would rate the comfort level as OK. 3. The big one! The Internet is horrible. The worst I have ever encountered in a hotel… completely useless. It is slow to the point of ridiculous with my Google news page losing in just under two minutes. If you are a business traveller, as I am, I would not recommend this hotel.
