This is one of my favorite restaurants I have been to. I’ve been to Cambodia and to be honest the food at Bopha Devi was far superior to that which I experienced in both Siem Reap and Phnom Penh. The Garlic Chive Cakes are to die for. I have lived in other countries and dreamed of them. Would 100% recommend.

This pint sized Cambodian restaurant is one of my favorite places to eat out in Yarraville. The pumpkin dumplings are simply ravishing: Creamy sweet and savory pockets of yum wrapped in a delicate casing. I’m also a fan of the shrimp salad which is a spot on balance of spicy, sweet, sour, and savory, and is full of fresh crunchy vegetables, fragrant herbs, and good quality shrimp. The curries are all top notch as well. Bopha Devi is significantly more expensive than your Footscray Vietnamese places just to the north, but the execution is more refined and the food more delicate. Be warned though, that with wine two people can easily spend 80 dollars on dinner here.

This is a great little Cambodian restaurant in the heart of Yarraville. The vegetables are really fresh and the long tables are great for groups. The food is fantastic and I even learnt some Khmer!

*cliché warning* To put it mildly eating at bopha devi is like holding a party in your mouth and inviting the whole country. *end of cliché warning* Extremely sadly, my husband doesn’t like this place. Happily, I have friends I can drag along instead. Bopha Devi is described by its owners as «contemporary Cambodian». With this in mind, it’s clearly asian… but definitely not the kind you’re used to if you generally frequent malaysian /chinese /vietnamese /thai type asian food options. I’ve not been to Cambodia, so I can’t comment on the authenticity, but perhaps that’s a good thing. In it’s own right, Bopha Devi’s offering rocks. It’s fresh, and when they bust out a spicy dish it’s the kind that gets your tastebuds tapdancing rather than being so hot you can’t really taste anything else. The restaurant is about the size of a postage stamp and often full to the brim. That said, the changeover appears to be pretty frequent, so unless you arrive at core times(just as everyone else arrives too), it’s unlikely you’ll have to wait and if you do, it won’t be for long. Bopha Devi is gluten free, dairy free, vegetarian and other such things friendly, too. Deeeeeeeelish!
