The best. no comparison in Brisbane if you are looking for bread for your business or at home. this is pretty hard to beat. i have been going here for five years now after doing a taste test with a rival baker.Levain.this leaves Levain products for dead. .great counter staff at Balaclava St. and at Kelvin Grove Markets on a Saturday. .try a pie fresh from the oven on a cold day… heaven. another massive plus is you can chat to the baker and he is glad to discuss any issues you have and put you in the right direction… you can also phone order and they will keep your order until you can make it there which is a bonus at holiday times when time is tight and the bakery is very busy. i think that’s enough… go and try the shop and have something amazing with coffee!

Possibly the best bakery on Brisbane’s south side. I don’t know about you but French + bakery = joygasm. Banneton ticks all the boxes that I look for in a bakery — Array of sweet & savouries that look so tasty that I don’t care if I gain 100kg if I eat them all? Check. They do DECENT bagels? Check. Their crossaints make so happy I kinda wanna cry? Check. Lovely people behind counter? Check. Coffee of a consistent and tasty nature? Check Banneton is the place to go if you are seeking bakery good of any kind, great for weekend breakfasts/brunches/lunches. Only downsides are the minimal parking — you can however park on the street and cause it’s small if it’s busy you may not be able to eat in, but takeaway is always an option. DOIT.

Awesome olive sourdough! One of the best is Brisbane hands down Only problem is how quick you have to get there before they sell out of the good stuff!

Yummy scrummy!!! Discovered this gorgeous bakery/café when I had to drop my darling dog across the road at the Greencross Vet. Ordered a toasted ham and cheese crossiant and it exceeded all of my expectations. The ham was hand cut leg ham and extremely tasty. The exterior was crunchy and the inside gooey. Perfect. There was an extensive array of gorgeous patisserie items in their display cabinet, as well as delectable looking bagels and rolls filled with all sorts of goodies. Coffee was nice too! Happy customer :)

This place is my regular Saturday morning spot. Grab coffee, delicious bread and a cheeky pastry treat to kickstart the weekend. Always a queue but it’s worth the wait. Try the Brekky Basket for something savoury and hearty to tuck into.

Delectable pastries and breakfasts! One of my favorite bakeries around Brisbane, hands down. They offer bread loafs, croissants, sweet and savory tarts, and even macarons! So good and so fresh.

Banneton Bakery is one of those little gems, well known to the locals of the eastern suburbs, which is how we like it. Balaclava Street, a strange mix of tradie outlets, mechanics and deli’s, has long been the home of rare delicacies and good bargains, and Banneton is no different. On offer are savoury and sweet pastries, a variety of breads, filled sandwiches, and barrista pulled espresso coffees. The breads and pastries are all baked in a wood fired oven, and are expertly made. The croissants in particular are a must try, perfectly flaky on the outside while staying moist and buttery on the inside. The breads are all excellent, with the tumeric rubbed turkish bread good enough to eat on its own. The other sweets(think macarrons, tarts and biscuits) are all equally good. The coffee is good, though only the standard espresso based coffees are on offer. The wait staff have a tendency to run around in a rush, so there is often a line to pay/order. Given the small space inside Banneton, this can make waiting a little chaotic at times. Similarly, because there is limited seating, there is usually a wait for a table on weekend mornings. These little issues are more than made up for by the excellent baked goods.

Balavlava St in Woolloongabba holds an array of delightful surprises for those who bother to adventure down what seems like a very industrial space. Banneton is one of these surprises. I dropped in on a Friday afternoon and instantly had my mood lifted by the chipper and charming personalities behind the counter, which was full of deliciously appealing baked treats. There were six flavours of macarons to choose from — being all fairly common flavours, I had a hard time choosing a stand-out to taste… so I got the mixed box of all six(choc orange, raspberry, citrus, chocolate, coffee and pistachio). The raspberry was the winner, but I’d love to see some more exciting flavours. The macarons were to take away, but I sat down to enjoy a very nice coffee and a freshly-baked croissant, looking out to the road and accompanied by a couple of overly-familiar local birds.(Not a colloquialism; I was literally joined by a couple of winged crumb thieves.) I’ll be back for one of those fine loaves once my current supplies are out, that’s for sure… the New York Deli looks like my kinda slice.

When someone says bakery, I say Banneton. The team are truly some of the best our fine city has to offer. They are known for their wood fired breads and there is something special about walking down to their Woolloongabba home on a Saturday morning, picking up a fresh loaf of bread and walking home with the freshly baked scent wafting through the house. They do cater for us glutards as well. However, where Banneton comes into their own is with their danishes and other French style baked goods. I dare you not to fall madly in love with their baked cherry danish. Can’t get to Woolloongabba? Don’t stress they also have a stall weekly at the Kelvin Grove Village Markets.

In a very industrial looking area of Woolloongabba, just two doors down from Pennisi Cuisine is Banneton Bakery. Famous for its wood-fried breads, Banneton Bakery also sells a range of French patisserie style baked treats and cakes, savouries, sandwiches and serves coffee. The venue is not very large, and it gets very busy on the weekend for breakfast. There might be a wait on a table if you’re not early. I am always on the hunt for bagels and Banneton Bakery does those too. The bagels sell out early on Saturday, so get there early or phone up and pre-order. There is only one type of bagel — the poppy seed. Their signature bread is a plain 100% sourdough loaf, but my personal favourite is the New York Deli rye, which is a mix of wheat, rye and onions. It makes great sandwiches! They also do Gluten free bread, and Spelt and Rye loaves for those who want to avoid wheat. And what bakery isn’t complete without a giant pretzel!
