Finding myself on the wrong side of the river ;-), and needing a post-cinema beverage and a graze I read about this place as it has ‘Scandinavian influenced food’; although I can’t spot a single thing that is Scandinavian about the place. Tap beer choice is good(I had the Panhead APA from NZ) and had a beautiful snack of the decidedly un-Scandinavian chicken Quesadillas with coriander pesto(see pic) which I could eat all day(and may order another round of them now) they were so good. The place itself a little too Chapel Street for me and I feel underdressed in these parts. Music’s a bit shit but not too loud at 6pm although I expect that’ll change later tonight, especially as it’s Saturday.

This is a bit of a hidden gem. You wont find a million people hanging out the windows like some places on chapel street, but venture inside and you’re in for a treat. They have some specials that are well worth a try. Their burger in particular is simply stunning. The interior is light and interesting; thankfully nothing like your pub of old.

Slowly, the resurgence is happening, the former dingy, dark, smelly, crappy pubs of this area are being transformed into places of higher repute and they’re slightly more comfortable to hang around in. I really cant comment too much on this place here, as I went here for a pint or whatever size it was of cider from the tap. It has all the settings of the traditional pub, but the environment, that is venue interior is much more appealing. So heritage with modern times. Nice décor, and one wont break the bank to visit.

I was looking for a proper hotel/bar/pub, not the sort cattering to the clubbing crowd typical of Chapel St and thought The Wolf and I prospective. But alas not. Standard range of drinks, standard fare to eat. No clubbing music though so that was something.

Chapel Street lacks good pubs. The Wolf & I is going a long way to solve this problem. Nice selection of beers on tap and the Parma is ace. Really worth a look.

This place rocks in every way!!! it’s situated in Windsor end of chapel st(the real part of town for me as I’m not a fan of Toorak end). Its a 2012 pub that’s only been opened for 10 weeks and good on them for producing an outstanding bar at great value with amazing food. So what makes this place worthy of a Woohoo from me… The décor is simple oak timber colours and white every where. Clean and clear design and on a beautiful sunny day the byfold doors all open up to the let the outside in! Sprinkled in this simple design is a bit of Melbourne Ketch. Be sure to have a photo with the Wolf ambassador at the door and it’s she deer which lounges from table to table:) The bar manager spoke to my husband and said anyone can open a pub and serve drinks but we made sure it was all about the food too. The menu has been well planned and designed. The variety of shared plates are beautifully presented and are just the right amount of food portions but best of all it’s such a great price for such beautiful dishes. Mains are provided and look fantastic you can have some serious food envy at this place. As for drinks well great cider selection for coeliacs and I ordered the«don’t tell your dad Riesling» …I highly recommend this drop as it’s not overly sweet and not to dry really resounding on the palate and they serve them in large beautiful glasses. The red wine list is absolutely scrumptious and best of all you can get jugs of stylish looking cocktails as well as jugs of beers But hey this place certainly accommodates all clientele. And will probably put the union pub down the road out of business;)
