Here’s a café that I think understands the value of being a great suburban café. Alcove, in a corner nook of Wilston, is steps ahead of many cafes in the vicinity(in my opinion) and offers the perfect trilogy of good coffee, a well edited menu and the creation of a suitably casual atmosphere perfect for weekend brunch hunters and weekday café patrons alike. The staff juggled the weekend crowd with ease. My dining partner opted for the muesli, myself the kasundi wrap. And with two coffees the total came to $ 33 which we both agreed was pretty reasonable for the location, quality and service. So, if it’s a new café to conquer you seek this weekend consider Alcove.

I love this café. The coffee is excellent and the staff are always friendly. The menu is not overly large, but has a fantastic selection of food for breakfast. Alcove also has an ever changing daily special, which the staff will tell you about as you sit down. If sweets are more your thing, Alcove had an enticing selection of cakes and slices to choose from as well. The café can get very busy — especially on the weekend. So get in early if you can. Parking can also be tricky, so try the side streets if you can’t find a park next to the café.

There are a lot of side streets nearby so it should be on to get parking. Of you can’t get a seat here there are at least three other choices on the same street. Now onto the shop itself. Fresh flowers for sale. Pastry cabinet with sweet and savory. Two page breakfast menu and one page lunch. Coffee cup size is small, a real three mouth full. Order large of you’re like me. The hot muesli was tasty. My friend found the pumpkin fritters to large to finish! Deli… Well I didn’t see too much? A shelf inside of a few preserves? Very spacious setting for foot path seats. Lovely vertical garden on the side of the shop. Umbrellas. Tree with fairy lights. Well done, quite a sweet set up! Price? Cost $ 70 for three of us to have breakfast and a drink and a slice to share. Only dislike, the folding chairs which I never like sitting on.

I’m really happy with this little café. It’s in a cute little area of Wilston and has a really nice layout to it. The ambiance is great, the service is good, the staff are friendly and the food is nice :) It’s amazing how many different varieties of «avo on toast» you can get and I’m slowly starting to think that I’ve tasted at least half of the«avos on toast» that are offered in Brisbane. The food was nice and definitely seasoned well. The prices are relatively cheap to average for a brunch place as well which is always nice. The coffee I had was good and they do lactose free milk, soy etc. I think it’s one of those places you don’t fall absolutely in love with but you can easily go back time and time again because everything was just good :)

Loved the atmosphere and all of the cool bits and pieces. It was heartening to see a variety of GF products I had not seen in other shops. The coffee was just right and had a good taste to it.

This is our favourite Brisbane café for a variety of reasons: First things first — the coffee is consistently excellent. Now in isolation that doesn’t say much — but where Alcove stands out is their excellent service & café food. The staff are universally friendly and welcoming and after a couple of visits you are on a first name basis. The food is also very good. Generous serves of quality, freshly prepared, produce. For breakfast a personal favourite is the Avocado smash.

I visit Alcove on Tuesdays and Thursdays as a client of mine suggested coffee after doing a training session one time and well… I guess it became a habit. Sure. I might have more sugar in my coffee than their regular customers but hey it could be worse. I could be asking for cocaine in my coffee. but as if I would anyway! Service is great and it’s a nice feeling knowing that the peeps behind the counter remember what your usual is. It is only a small service area and it can get somewhat packed/cramped when ordering but I personally don’t see this as a problem. The eat in area is very nice and suits the mood perfectly. All in all — it’s either the great, friendly service and quality of their wares that keeps me coming back… or they are drugging my coffee. Pretty sure it’s the former.

Dropped in to Alcove on the way home from New Farm looking for a coffee. I was pleasantly surprised to to find Alcove after a recommendation from Ray White. Cute little tables, lovely service and a decent selection of deli foods. Will visit again next time I’m over that way. We got two coffees and a cake to share for 15 bucks.,

I love a deli café. And when your(very filling and very tasty) breakfast comes out served on wood I am sold. It’s only a really small venue; all alfresco. But a great range of teas and you’ll probably end up buying a few cute packets of seeds or romantic sounding ingredients before you leave. The breakfast sandwich is highly recommended. Scrambled eggs on panini. YESPLEASE.

This great little café has recently opened in Wilston and has sent a fresh culinary breeze through the leafy suburb. If I had to describe it in a word it would be simply pleasant. Firstly they make a great coffee. Secondly the food coming out of this tiny kitchen is first rate café fare. The breakfast selection is rustic and tasty and most of it comes served on wood which I count as an instant plus. The Deli selection is small but high quality and scoured locally where possible. You can also pick up fresh produce on the weekend. Finally the service is always friendly and efficient if not always quick due to its instant popularity. But if you’re the impatient type who’s going to complain, go somewhere else and let me enjoy my weekend coffee in this pleasant inner city village setting.
