What? More to West End than Boundary Street? Ha! Sure is, and if the visitor chooses to do a bit more exploring they may find this sooooooo beautiful little shop. This really is not just a shop, it’s a haven.
There are seats in the front garden, a cat for company, and a very relaxed salesperson who isn’t there to bother you at all.
What’s in here? STUFF. Trendy, quirky, etsy type stuff. There are some very wonderful greeting cards, including the hilarious set based on Brisbane train stations (Goodna Gracious! You’re Milton my heart). Clothing, homewares, jewels, decorations and some extremely nice pottery. Yes, it can be $$$ but this is all quite handmade and loved.

Go to Nook on a day that your resolve is as strong as steel. Don’t risk a visit to this shop on a day that you’re feeling remotely vulnerable — your wallet will regret it later. Michelle, the owner of Nook, has for a number of years expertly gathered a refined selection of home wares, ‘knick-​knacks’, clothes, bags, handmade arts and paper goods in this West End abode. I want to resist this comparison, BUT, to give you context, if you’re in any way interested in Etsy, Frankie Magazine, one-​of-​a-​kinds or twee anything, Nook is and will be a delight to visit.
This is my go-​to store for gifts for myself, cards for special occasions, notebooks and my new favourite nail polishes by Kester Black.

My wallet frowns at me every time I walk through the little gate to enter the world of Nook, because I just can not resist the goodies within. It really is the perfect place to pick up a special present for a loved one.
I’m a huge fan of Hookturn’s reusable coffee cups after buying one in Melbourne a couple of years ago, so I was over the moon to find them stocked at Nook. There are also oodles of amazing brooches, necklaces and earrings that often take my fancy, all made by independent designers. Over the past couple of years, I’ve bought Christmas presents (countless), engagement presents (little breakfast trays), housewarming presents (vintage wallpaper flying wall ducks!), and far too many ME presents. The lovely lass behind the counter will also giftwrap if you ask nicely, and there are plenty of ridiculously cute cards for sale to complete your present.
I do love that Nook is nestled at the front of a little cottage on Browning street, and I love even more that the resident cat is usually sunning in the front yard or on the stairs, welcoming you when you come to visit. Meow! Stop by whenever you can’t possibly think of something cute and clever to get for your best girl.

Nook is such a cutesy store and is a must visit for anyone who loves all things kitsch and crafty. I consider it as the boutique version of the online store,

The great thing about Nook is that they focus on mainly selling products by independent designers. There is a large focus on sustainability too– products made out of recycled materials or products that promote sustainable fashion (tote bags, reusable bottle etc). Nook loves jewellery shaped like animals, so if you are into that cute kitschy look, well you are in luck!
I also adore the fact that the store is set in a small house as it helps in accentuating the products’ DIY aesthetic.
Every time I enter the store, I leave wanting to buy the entire store. Nook is a store I would recommend to anyone who loves all things kitsch, DIY and sustainable.

Nook is perfectly named — housed in a little Queenslander cottage which is barely noticeable amongst Browning street’s commercial storefronts and spic-​n-​span new apartment complexes. Even if Nook weren’t a store I’d love it because the little house looks so dogged sitting there amid all the new development. The fact that this brave little cottage is the home of a store that sells local, vintage-​inspired goodies couldn’t really be more fitting.
I often head to Nook when I am looking to buy a gift for someone, and I can never help but come away with something for myself too. The store feels very welcoming, probably thanks to the resident cat who is always keen for a chin-​scratch, the staff who are happy to help you or just leave you to browse, and the jar of lollies they keep on the counter.
Shops like Nook can often be (understandably) expensive because everything is handmade or local, but Nook’s pricing isn’t too steep and I never feel like I’m paying too much for something. They offer free gift wrapping and sell a range of really, really cute cards so if you need a gift in a hurry it’s great.
Whether you’re looking for a gift or after special little something for yourself, Nook is a wonderful place to browse. You’ll spend ages oohing and aahing over the treasures they sell, and be besties with the Nook cat by the time you leave.

Nook is a great little shop for buying quirky, beautiful gifts. I love their range of Keep Cups (re-​usable take-​away coffee cups) shaped and coloured like actual paper cups, tea towels and stationery. My going in there even just to look is dangerous – there’s so much I want to buy. I went in recently and managed just to buy a Christmas present (for someone else not me). I ended up with one of their Timber! t-​shirts (for men), printed on American Apparel cotton shirts ($ 40).
It’s a little bit pricey, but for mostly locally made, unique little things, Nook is a great place for treating yourself or someone else.
