My uncle and aunt are regulars here, and had made a booking to bring me(not a local!) out for breakfast while I was in Adelaide. The place was packed, which speaks well for its popularity with locals, however the staff had lost our reservation and didn’t seem too apologetic. They did manage to find one table out on the deck that was not in use. The menu offered a lot of tasty options — I went for a vegetarian breakfast and a cappuccino. The staff who brought out the drinks managed to slop my coffee into the saucer. My meal was delicious though, and made up for the less than sterling service.

Do go here if you’re local. Do support them. That’s my advice. Great to see places like this doing more than their purpose(surf life saving), but also offering great facilities for locals and indeed anyone. They have meal specials and friendly service. The décor inside is incredibly plain and uninviting, however they have an outside area and also a balcony. Both offer stunning views. If you’re not local, come just for the view. The food is great too. There aren’t many places in the world with such amazing seaside views, combined with fresh, honest food at good prices. Don’t expect much from the wine list though, but remember we are in Adelaide so we are spoilt and at least everything is drinkable and pretty tasty! They also are a location you can obtain the Adelaide Free Bike Hire bikes. So I recommend starting there, grab a bike, take a ride along the beautiful coast, return to a fab schnitzel — great day out!

Had my usual salt and pepper squid here yesterday. One of my favorite places to go to during the weekend. It’s simple and unassuming and the view is just gorgeous.

Having lived very nearby for over a year before actually eating here, I was pleasantly surprised by what is found after you walk through the front doors: people, everywhere people. The entire neighborhood and some of their non-local friends knew to eat meals here — except me. Don’t come with the thinking that«it will be like Home & Away, so there will be drama all over the place!». It’s not. I would laugh at you if you did, however. Though I’m personally a little sorry that there’s not thousands of hot-bodied life savers sprawled over surfaces throughout the club, they’re committed to be a part of this club when they are training or required. When you’re feast of eye candy can’t be satisfied, what else is there to do with uninterrupted so-close-that-windy-days-could-be-hazardous-to-your-meal beach-front views than enjoy a gutsfull of good food. And Lord have mercy — it IS good! The burgers. The fish and chips. The milkshakes. The beers. What’s your style or need, it’s covered. Treat your relaxing self to an hour of joy in one of the best suburbs in town, as west as you can get. And west, is best! The only flaw I could think of is if it’s a sweet as beaut day when you plan to visit, either be prepared to «seagull» peoples tables with gusto — that means standing awkwardly close to preferred table, eyeballing their food until they either give it to you or leave — or be content to sit inside and look at the views through the large windowed wall and around peoples heads with your meal where there’s usually plenty of space. But if you do choose to seagull people, don’t advise that I suggested it, nor expect to be welcomed back too fast.

With a beautiful view, the West Beach Surf Life Saving Club is a fantastic place for a quick and cheap bite to eat, at almost any time of the day. With a breakfast, lunch and dinner menu this place has got you covered — if you lived nearby you’d never need to cook again! Their selection is alright and the food itself is all pretty good! A great venue for functions too, I’ve been to a few here in my time however the food does seem to be a little lacking at these events — it may be that the host didn’t order enough however hungry bellies at weddings here has been an issue with me. Otherwise a decent place to stop by and it really helps bring life to the West Beach area!

Great for a post-swim drink(extra points for making milkshakes). I only had a bowl of chips so I can’t comment on the food but other patrons seemed satisfied. There was also a sausage sizzle setting up, which is a great idea by the beach.

Had a drink here before heading out to the airport back to Sydney. Didn’t really try the food so I can’t tell ya anything about it, but the view is awesome and looks over the water! Nice friendly staff as well!

After heading to the West Beach with a friend for a dip on a particularly hot Adelaide day we dropped into the West Beach Surf Life Saving Club for a milkshake and a bite to eat. The weather was amazing and the balcony takes full advantage of the beautiful view. It was quiet being a Monday around lunch time but the balcony was full with people having an early wine or a nice lunch. The staff were friendly and welcomed us warmly. The milkshakes we ordered were $ 4.00 and came in a huge glass with what looked to be about half a litre of milk. We also ordered a serving of fries which were not the most amazing we had ever eaten but when we asked for another pot of tomato sauce the waitress happily bought it over and didn’t charge us anything extra, which for a sauce love like me is a massive thumbs up! The interior is nice, although the décor is pretty outdated but the menu looked fresh and inviting and there is plenty of seating so you can imagine it getting pretty packed out on a warm summer’s evening.

This coffee spot is one of the many places my friends and I stop when we are out and about bike riding. It is run by wonderful salt of the earth types of more mature ladies, who do a wonderful job of service with a smile. It has the camaraderie of a club like atmosphere being housed within the Surf Life Saving clubrooms. If you are visiting here, it is better on a sunny warm day, as the inside seating is too open and large to be comfortable. Seating can be found on the narrow balcony with sweeping views of the beach towards Glenelg, here there is protection from wind and sun. Otherwise there is a large outdoor area which is lovely if the weather is good. Word to the wise, if you are bike riding keep an eye on your pride and joy as one of the days we were there, an off duty policeman had his $ 10,000 bike stolen.(I think I am in the wrong job). The coffee here is organic and they don’t cater for those of us who like skinny milk but for a Surf Club, they make a very passable coffee. If they didn’t I wouldn’t keep coming back. The club also rent the venue out for functions. I haven’t been to a function here but the clubby atmosphere of the room would make a great spot for party, not too big, not too small and the balcony overlooking the beach at night would be fantastic I am sure.
