I love mini golf. There I said it(technically I wrote it but you get the idea). Whilst most of the players on the course were under 10 years old I did spot quite a few people who were… well…how do I put this nicely, um, old enough to vote? Really when you put a mini golf putter in someone’s hand the competitive side of them comes outs and roars. 18 holes of challenging putt putt golf awaits any takers young or old set in beautiful gardens. The score card does have an alternative way of scoring but seeing who would hit double figures first in our group was far more fun. I did not reach double figures on any holes I will not be changing careers to take up golf anytime soon. There is a restaurant on site for refreshments after the game

Botanic Golf is a great day out for the kids or a fun change to date night. Child free nights are rare in my house and I left to my better half to organise something different. I was skeptical. It is golf. How fun can it be? First is was a beautiful summers day and they stay open later and put the lights on. There is something about mini golf that brings out the competitive spirit in people. I found myself having fun and trying hard to win. Of course, I was useless at the game, taking twice as many shots to sink a shot. It was a lot of fun and I will happily go again.

The Botanical Golf center in Wanneroo is a fun and enjoyable outing for all ages. They have 2 different styles of mini golf courses, the traditional style that you just try and putt the ball in the cup in the lowest amount of strokes, and another style that you can add or subtract points, for which ever cup you putt the ball into. The holes are challenging for everyone. Thursday through to Sunday nights they are open later so you can play at night with their lights on. They also have live music, and woodfired pizza’s on those nights as well.

If you are stuck for what to do over the holidays, or struggling to keep the kids entertained, mini golf is always a good solution. It gets a bad rep for being a bit nerdy but even the cool kids can’t help but get into it and get a little competitive. Botanic golf gardens are quite large and the game takes you right around the place, through trees and bushes, over bridges, past mini lakes, it is really quite pretty. So pretty in fact, it’s a popular spot for weddings, which occur quite often here and it’s always fun to see somebody in their wedding gown! There is also now night golf, with the last tee off at 8pm, which makes playing mini golf a little bit more fun. Their prices are very reasonable and if you go with a group of 20 or more, you get a discount. You can also buy combo tickets for the Botanic Golf Gardens and The Maze, so that should keep the family entertained for a little while. After a nice round of golf head to the Leapfrog Café for some wood fired pizzas! Perfect way to finish a game.
