Come to Dolce Classico if you want absolutely superb breakfast/pastries. I recommend this place to anyone who wants the best pastries in town!

I live just around the corner and had been meaning to try Dolce Classico for a while. I popped in to grab a quick takeaway coffee and cake and was VERY impressed by their exquisite range of cakes, macaroons, slices and pastries. The added bonus of a bonafide Italian noisily preparing the coffee put a smile on my face. The dark chocolate and pear slice was absolutely out of this world! Definitely worth a stop in if you’re in Walkervile! Will be back for the breakfast :-)

I was invited to Dolce Classico for work, and got the opportunity to sit down with Maria, the lovely lady who bakes all of Dolce Classico’s pastries and cakes. She used to be a hairdresser, before having a complete change and dedicating her life to patisserie. Dolce Classico looks tiny, but has a large indoor/outdoor seating area out the back. Their pastries include classic Italian and French pastries from croissants and tarts to canolis and diplomaticos. I wasn’t expecting too much from a small suburban bakery/café, but was pleasantly surprised to find that not only was everything beautiful, it all tasted delicious too. None of the creams and custards were too sweet, and there were a range of flavours to choose from. On the weekends they also serve breakfast, but I haven’t had a chance to try it yet. It’s just out of the city, so if you’re in the area stop by. You can get any of the cakes and pastries take away, so you can also stock up for a fancy brunch at home.
