The Village Fresh Fruit & Deli

I stopped coming to this fruit shop after it failed to produce artichoke for a special recipe I was preparing. In hindsight I suspect artichoke is only available during certain seasons but it took awhile before I was willing to forgive them.
On the occasions I do venture here, I find their range still a bit limited though they do have some cheap bargains out the front– today, they were selling bags of avocados for $ 3. Their other redeeming feature is that they have a small deli section out the back.
This place isn’t enough to draw me to the Ville Shopping Village on a regular basis for fresh fruit and deli treats but if I happen to be in the area, I would drop in for the sake of convenience and the occasional bargain.

I’ve long since stopped wondering why fruit and vegetable shops are so located so close to their main competition, in this case a Coles, but nevertheless they always attract my custom. Don’t be fooled by the name Fresh Fruit and Deli, this is just a fruit and vegetable shop with a fridge down the back that holds olives, cheese and a few assorted dips and meats.
The quality of their produce has always been high, a good sign for an independent shop. I guess this means they have a large customer base and are able to rotate through their stock quickly, meaning the fresh food is always fresh.
As with most fruit and veg shops the prices are a tad higher than you will find at a Coles or Woolworths, but it’s worth visiting if you’re one of those people like me that enjoys giving the smaller business a helping hand.
