My son and husband get haircuts here regularly. It’s a very basic setup but there is a huge TV, water dispenser and free coffee. Lui does a great job and he’s quick, which is important for kid’s haircuts. I think he’s the best value haircut in Unley. My husband likes his haircuts too, he said Lui listens to what you want and delivers. Lui works on his own and it’s first in best dressed, except for Saturdays which is by appointment. On week days I haven’t waited more than half an hour. $ 22 men, $ 18 pensioner, $ 20 boys, $ 10 beard trim. EFTPOS transactions attract a $ 2 service fee.

I first took my son to see Lui after a session at kindergym where all the mums were talking about him. My trouble at the time was I’d make an appointment at a salon and when the time came, junior was either having a sleep or a really bad day. The drop-in nature of Louie’s means you can pick a day and time that suits you(ahem…your child) and just rock up. He’s open from around 9.30 to 4.30 or 5, depending on the day, and Saturdays by appointment. There are six chairs for waiting customers and it’s around 10 minutes per person. If there are two or three waiting, I’ll stick around, four and I’ll come back another time. Kids warm to Louie and having sons of his own, he’s very comfortable with them. It’s $ 18.50 for boys and men. Slightly less for pensioners. Slightly more for a full scissor cut. It’s a pretty basic setting — there’s a water fountain and TV with Foxtel and if you ask nicely, he’ll usually switch it to the cartoon channel to keep your kid entertained while he goes about his business. Barber on Unley comes highly recommended.
