The Glenmore didn’t look restaurant-worthy from street level. It’s an historic, small building in a neighborhood of historic buildings; and the downstairs bar was boisterous and crowded on weekend nights, with the inebriates spilling out onto a sidewalk patio area. It looked like a place to drink; not so much a place to eat. But after completing the Bridgeclimb Sydney, I was looking for lunch and was pleasantly surprised to find their rooftop deck(after spying it from a higher walkway and thinking«Oooh, what is that?») I arrived just in time to get seat at a nice two-top near the bar. The deck was already mostly full, but further crowds ascended and a line quickly formed on the stairs. I ordered a beer and a sandwich: – Spicy lamb burger: The lamb was tender and almost tasted of pulled pork. Kimchee on top added a nice counterpoint. Unfortunately the greens were not cut small enough, since they tended to pull out of the sandwich on every bite. The fries were perfect. Overall this dish was not very spicy, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. 4 stars. The setting, above and within the trees, was glorious on a bright summer day. 90% of the deck was covered with a large awning to keep off the sun. On the east side of the deck, one could see both the main harbour and downtown. The only downside was that the view was marred by the immense cruise ship in port, which blocked views of the Opera House and outer harbour. But the Glenmore would definitely be worthy of a re-visit. The staff treated me well and I enjoyed my lunch here. The only real issue was the crowds.

Had lunch twice during our visit to Sydney and enjoyed the rooftop dining both times. Fish chips were excellent and service was friendly and efficient. Loved that I could use Apple Pay to pay the bill. No table water but a customer facing tap at the bar made it easy to get refills.

The glenmore is famous for the rooftop. And that certaintly doesn’t dissapoint! The location lends itself to some amzing views of Sydney Harbour and is a must for the adult aged tourists! The rooftop does get very very busy though so get in early. The food is abouve your average pub fare, but not by much! The groundfloor bar can get busy but has a good array of foreign and domestic beers and ciders on tap.

Went in expecting mediocre pub food… and that’s exactly what I got. The food equivalent of Sam Jackson beer.(It’ll get you full.) The steak wasn’t a great cut, and I could have possibly cooked a better one at home. The asparagus was a nice touch of green veggies, and I could probably use more of that in my diet. The surprise of the plate was the grilled mushroom — very tasty! As others have noted, the rooftop bar is where it’s at here(and the view is «very Sydney») — but that’s only if you can actually find an open spot up there. The place is packed! Good news for most looking for a happening bar seen, I suppose. And although I was looking forward to a pleasant open-air Sunday dinner with a view, things actually turned out fine for me because I found a nice(relatively) quiet spot on the middle level — the Grand Dining room — where they had American football playing on a big screen. Maybe I’m too easy to please, but that earned them the fourth star.

A pretty chill vibe spot with a good drink selection and some seriously good food. Despite the rain showers, went up to the covered roof deck. Some tables were eating, some just drinking, but all were having a good time and enjoying the afternoon. The Pulled Pork Roll was as good as it looked in the pictures — the spicy sauce, cheese and cole slaw mixed so well together with the tender pulled pork. The fries that came along with it were pretty dang good too: perfectly fried golden with a soft pillowy potato middle. The wings were covered in a Thai chili spice that brought a little bit of heat with a lot of flavor. Both paired well with the Fat Yak pale ale on tap. Very glad to have found this place.

Cool place. Unlike other spots in a city full of unique spots. Great views from the roof, decent food, service was good considering they were packed. Another don’t miss spot for a drink and a snack while you’re in Town.

After a long day at Bondi and Watson Bay, the BF was starving and needed food. We had hoped to get food at Watson Bay, but there was a festival going on and the whole place was PACKED! So we headed back on the bus toward the hotel and after looking through Unilocal for a place nearby that will accept us in our super casual gear, settled on Glenmore. The rooftop was already packed, so we settled for a table by the bar. I had a burger and the BF had the pasta. The burger was pretty good and the BF really liked his pasta. He also had a Guinness and said the bartender pulled a great glass. We actually tried coming back on a Friday(our first visit was on a Sunday) but the whole place was packed.

Nice rooftop bar on a warm night. Given its view of the harbor and opera house, I felt the crowd was mostly tourists or a local date spot. Regardless, the drink and food selection, while basic, was good. But the fabulous view coupled with the casual atmosphere really make this place worth visiting. I also ordered the fish and chips, which was quite tasty and not overly battered.

Highly recommend the Cool Climate Series Hilltops Tempranillo with, of course, the $ 12 Steak. Not bad Sydney, not bad! Pair good food with amazing views and nice ambiance, can’t go wrong! 4 – 4.5 Stars.

When at The Rocks go to a pub. Seriously. I went to The Glenmore in 2000 when it was still dirty and simple and undone. It was an amazing pub, the rooftop view to die for, the food simple but satisfying, as a side to the beer. Years later the pub has succumbed, like most, to the need to change although I think people would keep coming had the changes not occurred. Most pubs just need a new chef and a new plan. The pub overall is still much the same but the rooftop has lost its charm. It’s been modernised, opened up, filled with tables and chairs and glass, some canvas roofing, and a large bar. It’s not bad, and the food is clean and tasty, but the old rooftop was better, hands down. It is though a place to visit when in the area. The beer is as great as the view. Incidentally you even get a view from the Men’s.

The rooftop bar is pretty cool. Great views of the Sydney Opera House, great cider(love me some Kopparberg!) and really good fish and chips.

Great views of the Sydney Opera house! This is the place to visit when you’re at the Rocks area. Go to the rooftop and enjoy the views of the opera house while you drink your beer, cider or sip on your beverage of choice.

Bustling roof-top where tourists and corporate parties jostle for one of the best views of the harbour, we were in the former group, dropping by just for a drink with a view — which was so good that we ended up staying for a bite. The parma was ok, but the slow-cooked brisket burger — DAMN. Mouth is watering just recalling it. No need for a menu, all carnivores should just get that. Pretty perfect tourist spot in Sydders, just be prepared for it to be busy.

I came here for the rooftop bar and it was amazing, yet extremely packed during NYE time. The view of Sydney Opera House was gorgeous especially with the sun setting. The place had free for all seating, so we had to wait around tables that were leaving. We ordered the fish and chips and they were quite good. The fish was full fried and still moist on the inside. It was a bit expensive, but the portion size made up for it.

I’m always a big fan of the Glenmore whether it be for Sunday afternoon drinks on the rooftop or dinner in one of the many rooms on the second level. It’s the perfect summer spot for a cocktail(or two) on the rooftop whilst basking in the glorious Sydney sun overlooking the harbour. Don’t be fooled by the slightly dodgy looking downstairs section, the upper two levels are great! Whilst I have to say I think it’s about time The Glenmore updated their menu, it’s standard pub fare but maybe it’s time to get some new things. It’s been the same for the last 3 years I’ve been going there but then again you’re not going here for the food, you’re definitely going there for the view of the harbour. Their cocktails are pretty amazing and they have a somewhat average wine list. It’s nice that even though it’s in The Rocks its not as overly priced as what you would expect. It’s not the cheapest pub but its also not the most expensive! The downside of The Glenmore is that it is always busy in summer, especially upstairs on the roof but if you’re lucky like I was the other night one of the rooms on the second floor might be available and you get a semi private room to yourself!

I think it’s about time I get round to reviewing this gem of a place. I ain’t gonna sugar coat this one — she’s not the prettiest of the bunch up this way and she’s far from fine dining but where she lacks in aesthetics, she makes up for heart !! And that heart happens to be on the roof !! Its the Rolls Royce of rooftops right here … on a balmy summer night, pull up a stool, feel that breeze blow through your hair and enjoy the million dollar views of the greatest harbour in all the land *cue Waves by Mr Probz* They have a pretty decent selection of beers on tap, 2 of my favourite whites(Cloudy Bay and Cape Mentelle), ciders, some top shelf gin and scotch and some great jugs for those ‘uge nights … oh and some sneaky Patron to just really finish it off. What I love most about this place? It’s so far from pretentious, there are no dress codes. you want to wear your soccer gear, go for your life son, thongs? Not a problem buddy. but what you’ll find here is your typical after work crew — toned right back, rolled up sleeves, tie loosened, hair out. this is where you come to relax. I’ve yet to eat here but I’d imagine it would be your standard pub grub — salads, steaks, burgers, wedges. I mean how bad could it really be? She’s a keeper !!! … I’m slowly drifting awayy … wave after wave …

Come for the view, stay for the view. Up high in the Rocks the Glenmore stands proud. The three story pub is nicely laid out with indoor and outdoor seating on the ground floor, and a lounge and separate rooms for a more private boozing experience on the middle floor. Then there’s the rooftop. Oh, the rooftop. Great views of the Quay, the city, and the Opera House. This is where you want to be — if you can grab a seat. Or really, even if you’re okay to stand. The beer selection is decent, with some Little Creatures thrown in to the usual pub offerings. The staff are willing to go out of their way to make you happy — during my last visit I saw one staff member locate and bring over an extra chair for a man to hang his suit jacket on as there was no coat rack on offer. The guy that brought our food was quick to offer and deliver various sauces and utensils, which unfortunately isn’t the norm at Sydney pubs. Sadly the highest compliment I can give the food is that it is passable pub fare. If you’re hungry, there’s food here. It won’t be great, or even really good, but with some salt you’ll be able to tame your hunger pains without the urge to overindulge. That’s fine, more room for beer that way.

This is the best rooftop bar in Sydney. Perfect for a sunny weekend session or a beautiful summer night. Good range of beers on tap and fun jugs to split. The food is pretty good. I recommend the popcorn shrimp and the chicken wings as share plates. The pulled pork burger is always delicious as a main! Hard to beat the amazing view of the Harbour and Opera House! The only downside is that it is always crowded and can be hard to grab a seat.
