Horsnell Gully Conservation Park

I suspect Horsnell Gully is mostly visited by locals. It’s a much smaller park between Morialta and Cleland. It begins at the back of Skye and heads up towards Norton Summit, joining Giles Conservation Park halfway.
The main entrance (Hornsnell Gully Road) is right next to the quarry, it’s still active and trucks thunder in and out, so be cautious. From here there’s only a couple of choices as to your route. You can head straight up the waterfall track (this is kraggy, can get washed out and requires some minor rock scaling near the top), or head along the ridge track, with views over the Quarry, Gully and out over the Adelaide CBD.
Either option has you looping back down the other way or just retracing your steps back. It’s a short, fairly uneventful walk.
My recommendation would be to take a friend and park one car at each end of the Heysen/​Yurrebilla track and walk through. This is noted on the guide as ‘Mt Lofty to Norton Summit Hike’ and is the thicker line. This is an easy walk mostly through Gully’s. The track is fire-​track wide for most of this and then thins through the Gully.
