The Cupcake Bakery

The Cupcake Bakery no doubt has a fantastic selection of cupcakes and excellent service, but in that my Cookies & Cream cuppy had neither the best frosting, the best cake, or the best combination of both that I’ve had recently I can’t honestly categorize The Cupcake Bakery as being anything incremental beyond A-​OK in my book.
Star 1: How were the service and atmosphere?
A small bakeshop off of what is an extremely high trafficked (and often overly touristy) part of town, The Cupcake Bakery is about as straight forward as it comes. They have big cupcakes, they have small cupcakes, and they have fast and friendly service with a very easy to read and decipher menu with pictures. You pick, you pay, and you’re on your way. What more could you ask for? Star Granted.
Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost?
$ 4.00 is a wee bit expensive for a cupcake, but honestly this was still a full dollar cheaper than my chocolate tart from Bourke Street Bakery. That being the case, Star Granted.
Stars 3 and 4: How was the food?
Cookies & Cream was recommended to me by the worker at the Bakery, and it’s coincidentally my favorite cupcake flavor by far. The downside to that is I’m exceptionally picky when it comes to my Cookies & Cream cupcake, and that was very much the case here.
In the battle between top and bottom, the bottom cake won out in this case and it honestly wasn’t even close. While the frosting was quite plain and more or less without flavor of its own, the cake wasn’t too sweet, had good flavor, and actually had bits and pieces of oreo cookie in it. Clever. However, only half of the equation was really here, so only one of the two possible stars can be granted. Single Star Granted.
Star 5: Would you eat here every day if you could?
I can’t say that’s the case, but if The Cupcake Bakery can up their game with respect to their frosting I’d consider it. No Star Granted.

— The sticky date cupcake didn’t taste as indulgent as I imagined. Cake was muffin-​like.

They do have cupcakes. In the windows. And special ones inside on platters.
When we walked in there was a gluten free red velvet cupcake available. Apparently the lady said that it changes day to day. So well worth a look if you like your cupcakes.
To be fair. Paying $ 4.60 for a cupcake is a bit ouchy. I mean, for that price you could make 12 of them at home. At least I know I could. But we were walking past and I needed a sugar pick me up to keep walking so in we dove.
The cupcakes are moist and quite nommy. With a cupcake you can get a deal for coffee for $ 2 on top of the price of the cupcake which is what we ended up doing.
There’s stool seating inside, they have leather stretched over the seats so you could effectively play the drums on them or park your butt for your cupcake. I took the latter option.
Funky inside, not a huge amount of seating so you may need to grab your cupcake and run as opposed to enjoying it like we got to.

Having now stopped at this location about 4 times, I think it’s safe to say that I’m a fan. The cupcakes here are always good, not usually mindblowing, but always good. They have a great rotating variety all the time, and the frosting to cake ratio is always right, just enough to let you have a few finger swipes while still leaving enough for all the cake.
If you’re swing through the subway station at town hall and need a last minute gift for the coworkers, or need to bring something to a party and you’ve left it til the last minute, this is a lifesaver!

So many cupcakes, such little time! I love the cupcake obsession that has swept Sydney these days it feels like there’s a cupcake shop on every corner.
If you’re a cupcake fan and haven’t yet sampled the The Cupcake Bakery yet — well what sort of cupcake fan are you?
Super delicious cupcakes and loads of choices. My picks are Red Velvet and Lemon Poppyseed, but really you can choose any flavour and you won’t go wrong. Your best bet is to keep visiting and try to taste them all!
Situated amidst the stylish boutiques of the QVB, this spot is perfect for doing a walk-​by for a sugar hit on those exhausting shopping expeditions.

Hail Cupcakes on Pitt for the best cupcakes in Sydney. Located opposite Wynyard Station, this quaint cupcake and cake shop would look quite at home in a bustling New York street. With rows upon rows of delicately crafted cupcakes oozing flavour, you will no doubt want to sample them all! A box (or two) of their cupcakes make an excellent gift or dinner party treat. When you utter the words «Cupcakes on Pitt» you will have guests jumping up and down in their seats. Cupcakes are surprisingly well priced and are generously portioned. The store also design and bake cakes in the shape of cupcakes for special occasions. Everything in this store is beautifully embellished and yummy! Fingers crossed for more store openings across Sydney. Currently, Cupcakes on Pitt also have stores in Chatswood, Parramatta and York Street (Sydney CBD).

While strolling along George Street and acting all touristy during my first week in Australia, I found myself stuck (not lost) but just unable to move past a Cupcake Bakery. I was like a kid outside a candy store, only difference I am not a child and it was a Cupcake store.
I have promised myself no more than One Cupcake at a time so the first time was the hardest as I was spoilt rotten by the choices. How can you choose between Choc-​choc, tiramisu, molten-​choc and strawberry cheesecake? And in addition to the cupcakes, there are Maxi Cupcakes, Drinks and Sundaes.
I finally settled for a Chili-​Choc and Coffee combo and I can honestly say, I am an addict!
