This is a very popular spot during the week! There’s always a line out the door with people waiting for their coffee fix. They have the best coffee in the area and great prices. My favorite is the iced latte and it’s only $ 3.90. I had gluten free bread with eggs for a work breakfast and it was delicious. Eggs cooked perfectly with lots of flavor! Perfect place for a coffee break!

I normally won’t review a coffee shop until I’ve been at least twice. Baristas change, there’s off days, etc. etc. I’m breaking that rule because I simply can’t give Maxwell’s another go. I was in early for work and thought I’d cross Maxwell’s off the list at a time when the crowds would be more manageable. The wait wasn’t bad. They’re quite efficient inside, and there’s tons of reasonably priced menu items for lunch and breakfast. I ordered a bacon and egg roll and a long black. The coffee was a solid 3 star brew. Good, but a bit weak and lacking a bite. The roll; however, completely turned me off. I ordered take away and carried the bag in the way it was handed to me. When I opened the bag, the roll had completely fallen apart, to the point where most of the egg and bacon had left the hand-torn bun pieces and were clumped at the bottom of the bag. I took the time to try to put the roll back together, at which time it became apparent I was missing a quarter of the bun(half of a top/bottom). Taste wise, the bacon was nice, but I found the BBQ sauce to sweet and the torn bun bits would have benefitted greatly from some extra toasting. I wound up tossing over half the thing as it was near impossible to eat as, despite my best efforts at rebuilding, the thing was uneven and falling apart, and just not worth the calories. Just a careless effort by Maxwell’s. Why would I bother going back?

This place does the best coffee. From what I have heard the food is fantastic as well. Particularly the bacon and egg wraps!

It’s a good thing one of my appointments was rescheduled the other day otherwise; I would not have peered inside this cosy little café. The owner has a real passion for coffee and coffee making and it shows –my latte was aromatic, invigorating and just right. In addition to really good coffee, they also serve gourmet sandwiches and wraps, sweets and snacks such as olives, potato crisps and small pieces of frittata. Try the brioche-buttery, creamy and rich, what’s not to love?
