This restaurant is very simple! Once you walk into the restaurant there are three computers that take your order. Choose the food that you want, place the order and a receipt will print out. Take the receipt with you and bring it to the front where the cashier is. The workers will take your receipt and fulfill your order. The workers there were very friendly! I had the curry beef udon. It was YUMMY! It was so flavourful! The udon noodles were soft but not TOO soft. My boyfriend just got a regular beef udon and he couldn’t stop complimenting the udon! He loved how flavourful the udon was by itself. The udon was the perfect meal for a rainy Sydney day. ALSO, the udon bowls were very inexpensive! They were about $ 6 – 10AUD.

I saw Hana Hana Japanese Restaurant and decided that I would try them out. As I walked in, I saw a clean, neat set up and three computers to order your meals. This I understood by seeing something similar on Youtube. I was obviously looking unsure so a friendly staff member came to help me. Any questions I asked were answered and the service from ordering was quick. There is a note on each computer that tells you how the system works so don’t worry. The food itself was OMG, my tongue and tummy and brain were rejoicing as the food released serotonin. So delicious. I ordered Mentai Spicy Ramen, Salad Takoyaki and a took a bottle of orange juice from the fridge costing me $ 16.60 for a delicious filling meal. Cost of the meals is amazingly affordable. Some as low as $ 5 and up. I am so going back.

At first glance, if looked a okay place. So we tried it out for dinner. Ordered some fried tepanyaki with chicken, noodles, and the extra takoyaki. First off, customer service was good. And the food came very fast. That should of been the warning sign. The chicken was uncooked, that could poison my friend. The takoyaki was hard, been their for the whole day. Oh and the noodles didn’t taste that great either. But I ate it since I was hungry. So over all, I would never visit that place again. And I will tell my friends as well.

Love it! a star 9really half a star) taken away for the computer acting up when ordering(so we had to call a staff member over) and loud music playing.(I like to enjoy my meals and be able to talk to my table mates.) But they DID turn down the music when we asked, which was very nice! My husband and I both had the Salmon Bento box, and it was delicious. He gave me his sashimi, and I gave him some of my grilled salmon. The miso soup was delicious, as was everything in the box. Really nice employees, too. We’re only in Sydney(from Chicago, USA) for a few days, but we’ll try to make it back here.

First impression of this place is that it’s very simple. First off when you get in, no one will entertain you, but that’s not a bad thing though lol. You just have to pick you’re order on the computer near the entrance. That for me, seems very cool, only few restaurants has that. About their food choices. They don’t have lots of variety of food choices on their menu. It’s not a typical Japanese restaurant with all those sushi and stuffs. They have a few varieties of noodles and bentos and some small stuffs too. On the front counter, they have another varieties which are not included on the menu. Food taste. Well I ordered a salmon bento. First I notice is the hot miso soup with it. It’s very tasty, but the rest are pretty good too, I liked what I ate. Space and seats. Space is alright for a small group of peoples that’s it. They only have few chairs too. So yeah. Parking. The parking is just depends on the situation. You can park on the nearest parking station or park on the street. Just to let you know it’s just beside Paddy’s market so when it’s busy it’s difficult to find a parking. Oh and yeah the toilet. NOTOILET so if you need to go then you better go run to Paddy’s market.

This was interesting. A friend and I dropped by here one Saturday evening. We’d made dinner plans at the nearby Chinese Noodle Restaurant but our other friends were running late and we were DESPERATE! So we went here to get a few things to eat(eg. pre-dinner.) First and foremost… we were a bit confused by the system. We literally just walked in without knowing what to expect, and were a bit flummoxed by the touch screen. It was pretty easy to use but… BUT! There was some food advertised on one of the posters advertised that we couldn’t find there. Then we noticed the little food court-type bar so we decided to go there instead. They had a couple of things like takoyaki, tempura, etc. that we could just grab and pay for. Since we didn’t want to spoil our dinners, we went for those. Food quality was good. Maybe a 3⁄5? It was good, but not amazing. Then again, that was the ready made stuff we’d just grabbed off the counter. I didn’t really have high hopes for them, and to be fair they did taste better than I expected. The décor was great. Place looked amazing. I’ll definitely come back, and try their«real» food for a change. PS We never found the food that had enticed us to come in.

I love this place and I miss it! where else can you get a ½ bowl of anything. for a small eater like me its perfect. The place is always busy, but never an issue getting served because the process is so efficient — you order what you want on a computer screen, a ticket is printed for you. you go to the counter(picking up any sides you want along the way which are very reasonably priced thing $ 2 — I think $ 4 for the teriyaki chicken which is delicious but im sure totally unhealthy) and all the sauces, ‘condiments’ and water you want for free. take your tray to a bench or table and — if you take your tray back after eating the friendly girls will be very grateful and give you a stamp — when you fill the card with stamps you get a free meal which is awesome! Most certainly will be back next time I am in Sydney!!!

If there was an option of giving an extra star I would in a heartbeat. I love this place, another great find thanks to Unilocalers! Staff are always friendly, helpful and polite, and I love the efficiency of their ordering system, and half dish choices on the menu. I always get a half dish, a cold dish, a side dish, and tempura sometimes. They have such a good selection of dishes that if you like Japanese food, you are bound to find something you will love. Give this place a chance!

The do-it-yourself udon/soba joints are starting to pop up everywhere these days, so it’s getting difficult to standout from the rest. Hana Hana has done so and then some in my book. Hidden somewhat within Chinatown, Hana Hana has a great selection from udon, soba and even ramen. All the main dishes are selected via touchscreen which is great since you get to see what it looks like before you order it. After you’ve ordered your main you then go to the sides. What Hana Hana does better than the others is having a huge variety of dishes. Tons of tempura and other Japanese goodies. Miso soup, mochi and even kimchi. They also have a huge selection of drinks including teas, juices and sodas. This place is great if you’re super hungry or perhaps just need a quick snack. You’ll find your fix one way or another at Hana Hana.

This Japanese restaurant takes me all the way back to Japan where the ordering process for food is very efficient and systemized — being that you order whatever you want from the touchscreens, you choose a few sides, and then you hand the person at the counter your ticket where you will get the food. The place offers a nice selection of food ranging from ramen(which is pretty good for the price. Pro-tip: Order the half ramen and get a side), Okonomiyaki, or a rice/udon dish. The place also has an incentive where if you bring back your tray, you an get a stamp on the loyalty card which means after a few visits, you can get a freebie. I’ll be definitely going back here again.

What would you get if Mizuya or Wagaya had a baby with Menya Mappen? The result would be Hana Hana, the new kid on the block! Tucked across from Chinatown staples Chinese Noodle Restaurant, Menya Chinatown, and Cho Dumpling King, this place is easy to walk by and miss. Taking a page from some of Sydney’s best cheap eats Japanese restaurants, when you walk into Hana Hana you’re presented with 3 touch screens to order your preferred Japanese dish. The food being offered is very similar to Menya Mappen, except ramen is an option as well. Hot or cold dish, soba or udon, rice or noodle, so many choices. Once you figure out what you want(it’s harder than it seems) the machine spits out a ticket and off you go to the a-la-carte station to pick up any goodies. Things range from Chicken Katsu($ 4 of awesome,) kakiage, and other various tempura dishes. Round the bend and you can pick up sauces or small side dishes, also like Mappen. At the end of the line you can pile on the shallots and tempura flakes as you please, none of this one scoop only business. Plus one. As this place is relatively new and hidden in the heart of Chinatown, the place wasn’t extremely packed and was quite spacious. Good, because that’s one of my complaints with Mappen. Plus two. The food is good, the service was great(someone came to offer assistance with the touch screen,) and the value is superb. I bought Mentai Ontama($ 5.90), Chicken Katsu($ 4.00,) Kimchee($ 2.00,) and a drink($ 3.00) for $ 14.90. Not bad at all. When you finish ordering they give you a stamp card where you get a free bowl of udon or soba bukkake after your 5th stamp. I plan on coming here plenty of times to get free bukkake. Lots of bukkake.
