Elite Event: Escape Hunt

Had a great time at this event. Came out on top with 4 minutes to spare from the Docklands room. Loving the back story involved in the rooms available at Escape Hunt. The munchies and drinks were nice and the conversations were great. Lovely to have met everyone. More Veggie Straws! Those things were addictive.

The sense of achievement of getting through an Escape room is difficult to put into words. It doesn’t matter how many times you «call on the forensic team», you will emerge, victorious, patting yourselves on the back for a case well solved.
It is only later, after a few Unilocal provided drinks that you’ll realise that although you escaped the room, you still don’t know who the murderer is. Oh well. Who cares. You’re a genius and no one can take that away from you.
Me and my team of super sleuths were in «The Pub». Fitting really as that’s where you’ll often find me. This time however someone had murdered the local drunk. Who would do such a thing? I’m not telling, you’ll have to play for yourself.
Escape Hunt is not to be missed. I’m already planning a work event. Because in the IT industry it’s more important that people think you can solve abstract puzzles than be good at… you know… your job.

I really enjoyed this event. It was great to meet more Elites and also to work alongside them as Escape Hunt Investigators. My team of Investigators was tasked with escaping The Cottage, a room from which valuable coins had been stolen. I’m happy to report we did so in time but will admit I had very little to do with it — my team members powered with style through each puzzle while all I did was look pretty.
When we exited we had wine and champagne waiting for us which was a perfect reminder of how excellent the service of the Escape Hunt team was — we were greeted on arrival, offered tea and coffee, and given a rundown of the Escape Hunt experience and a background on the franchise (awesome for newcomers like me). All in all it was a great experience.

OK so we didn’t win, but it wasn’t all about winning (but it could have been had we won ;) … This is my first time doing an escape room and I had a great time… I wasn’t sure what to expect, but upon arrival I enjoyed some fine tea and snacks to wind down. We were then briefed by Christal and her colleagues who gave us some sage advice on what we would be doing… our team was tasked with solving the murder in the pub.
No spoilers here for our room, but we were challenged by a series of puzzles which we needed to complete in order to move further towards solving the mystery… we did indulge in some assistance from the ‘forensics team’, available via radio throughout.
And the murder was solved… albeit slightly over our time limit, but we got there. We also developed as a team on the night, having just met, we worked well in order to achieve the goal.
A fun experience, this would be great for a group of friends looking for something different, or to build some teamwork and cohesion as a corporate event. Theres heaps of different rooms too, so can be different each time you go!

What a great help event!
This was actually my second time at Escape Hunt, as I had organized an office event there last year. The good news is they have three different escape rooms, meaning the mysteries and clues were all new to me :)
With my tiny team of three, we entered in to Robbery in the Cottage room, and had 60 minutes to find it who stole a promiscuous old lady’s money.
I won’t give any hints as to how to get out, but would definitely recommend confirming with the clue masters that you’re in the right track. My team was unsure a few times but with a quick radio call behind the door, we ensured we were looking at the right thing.
I will say it gives you a slight advantage to have done another room at this place, as there are slightly similar trends in clues. Still believe my team would have win without this advantage :)
We finished in 47 minutes and had about 10 minutes to celebrate with some Champers before any other teams came out.
Overall great experience and a great staff to chat with! They even go over the top with the sleuthing outfits you can wear and take pictures in. Definitely recommend for a group of friends or for a corporate event!

Who stole the money from the cottage?
That was what my team of three had to uncover. The place was dimly lit, the brick looking wall paper, the costumes and the other décor gave the feeling of being in a sherlock holmes novel. They even have the accompanying outfits, large magnifying glasses and smoking pipes.
There were many of us detectives, we were divided into groups and had different puzzles to solve and were given an hour to solve the mystery!
The team I was with was the first to solve the mystery (woohoo!!! — I even have a certificate to provide it!) There were a couple of rooms and in each there was a clue and using that we had to find the combination to a lock. Opening a lock usually means uncovering the next clue or getting access to the next room. Upon unlocking the final lock, you’ll learn who the culprit it (in our case, who stole the money).
While you’re suppose to feel like Sherlock Holmes in this game, I have to say that I felt more like the mentalist. Mainly because the clues we were given were about the behaviour of the possible suspects and we had to decipher the cryptic text and find the correct items to get the combination for the next lock. And also because the place is located in the heart of the Sydney CBD right on George Street. I walk past there countless times and didn’t realise that this cool establishment existed.
There were plenty of nibbles where we first arrived and there were also little puzzles for us to solve while we waited for our game to start. And at the end, there were champagne and wine to enjoy while we share our last 60 minutes experience with the other teams.
Our team solves the mystery in 47 minutes. How long did yours take?

Let the games begin! This was no ordinary game, only the elite can make it! And all teams did!
Thank you for a top night! The escape rooms are fantastic I recommend it to all of those looking for an exciting activity with friends, work mates, or even strangers. This event ticked all boxes.
I was in a group of 4 (which was a good number to do it with). You really have to have your thinking caps on and decipher the real clues from red herrings. Very satisfying and rewarding!

Boy did we have our work cut out for us. Murder in the pub out of nowhere. who could it be? The barmaid? The barmen? No one knows! I really enjoyed the whole atmosphere of this place. It really took my head for a spin down the better road. We all had to put our thinking caps on (Yes it was hard on a Monday Night) but I feel my team did well. Although we didn’t escape before the time ran out we weren’t far behind. From the moment we got into the room we immediately scanned the place for clues, as the time ticks on you start to over analyze everything. and that’s the fun of it! We were in one of the harder rooms and i’d recommend it to anyone looking for a great night out. This is an awesome idea for work socials, birthdays you name it.
The staff were dressed in character, and the whole lounge really suited the theme. From the moment you step into except room you forget that you are on the 4^th floor in a busy CBD building. You feel as if you stepped back in time and that is definitely what gives them the leading advantage for these type of games. They have 2 other rooms (cases to solve) and each theme has 2 rooms (6 rooms in total) so YES great place for large groups!
I am excited to spread the news to my work colleagues (right across the street) and hope to be returning soon.

OMG I won!!! I have superior detective skills! Who would’ve thought. The games were great fun and the organisers were so friendly. Lovely lounge area with drinks and nibbles galore! A really great evening of fun with new friends.
This would be a great activity to do with groups of friends competing with each other. My only suggestion though which let me down one star is I think there should be a penalty for walkie talkie use. Like remove 5 mins of your remaining time left for any walkie talkie use just to make it fair. I was really surprised we won but then I’m not sure if it’s because we kept using our walkie talkie. LOL! Oh and I was a bit confused being a detective rather than trying to escape from something given I thought this was meant to be an escape room. Anyway these things didn’t really take away from the fun.
Highly recommend you give it a try if you’ve never been to an escape room before!

I first heard about the Escape Hunt franchise in Singapore. I didn’t get a chance to try it there so I was super excited by this Elite event.
On arrival we were treated to bowls of chips so big you could dunk your whole head straight in and not touch the sides (good way to avoid sticky hands but I refrained from trying it) and hot choc, tea and coffee. The wine came afterwards, which was a good thing as a clear mind is needed to solve the clues and pinpoint the murderer.
My team of 4 super sleuth detectives attempted to solve the murder in the pub. The clues were tricky and we needed some help along the way from the Game Masters (which is actually encouraged). The 60 minute time limit absolutely flew by.
Dress ups and photo shoot followed. Thanks for organizing a great event Ben, and thanks to Christal and the Escape Hunt crew for making it so much fun!

«Tell me why I don’t like Mondays» was wrote a long time before Ben and the Unilocal team came along. These guys make Monday’s a Fun day.
This Unilocal event took place on George Street and once you got on the lift you started to get excited when you saw the Escape Hunt logo on the lift button. From the moment we got off the lift we were instantly treated like the Elites we are (flick my hair as I say that). Christal was the hostess with the mostest, a real legend. Incredibly professional but also friendly and sweet.
We were given instructions on registration and then offered snacks, Tea, coffee and hot chocolate while we waited. The tables also contained miniature puzzles and games to solve while we waited for the main game.
The main games consisted of The Pub, The Cottage and The Dockyards and while we waited each table told the backstory to each.
My game was The Pub. Not wanting to ruin the game here but a lot of it was mental challenges as opposed to grabbing open secret compartments. We had 60 minutes to get out and it was incredibly challenging. We had a whiteboard and chalkboard so be prepared to use your head. We eventually got out just after the allocated time. A late solved crime is better then an unsolved crime right !
Outside the room we all got to do some much needed photo fun with all the props. Play dress up to look like true investigative detectives. Relax on the couches and some good chats with the other successful Unilocalers.
Once again a successful event. I pondered how they keep the events so good.

We got to do the pub and didn’t finish in time but still made ourselves finish so we could ring the buzzer.
Apparently, the pub one is the hardest! So I don’t feel bad lol
Such a fun experience. And definitely forces you to think about the clues.

Great night. My first Elite event!!! Such fun to meet up for real. Everybody was so welcoming & friendly. Jo & Ben were standouts in the meet & greet from Unilocal,& Christal was a superb hostess. Thank you.
I ended up as captain for a team that was locked in the Docklands of The Rocks. I was impressed that each ‘escape’ was tailored to the Sydney area.
Different approaches to the mysteries helped us escape within the time limit.
Photo shoots and wine with nibbles ended a great night with new friends added on Unilocal as well as other social media.

The escape hunt was a lot of fun. Having seen ads for this, I had always wondered what it was like to play this game. A lot of thought went behind the puzzles. Great for groups and team building as the puzzles require different skills and thinking, so everyone could contribute something.

First elite event in Sydney. More to come in the future when I do visit Sydney again :)
Upon seeing that there is an escape event for Unilocal Elite members, I decided to fork out my time for it since I haven’t been able to attend any previous or upcoming ones.
I am a fan of escape games. Though I am not really good at it but that’s why you need a team in these types of games and rack our brains together.
Met up new peeps and managed to put some faces to the names I seen frequently among the top check-​ins or reviews to different businesses. Before the game begins, we were given instructions such as reading the guides and storylines provided on the table. And we break out into 6 different groups according to the specific rooms we were assigned. The leader of the group were given walkie talkies if we do need more clues for our games.
I was placed in the Docklands of the Rocks (1). The game was pretty straightforward but we started slow in figuring out the codes to the locks. And during the game, we had to seek help twice to complete the game. It was definitely fun figuring out the different puzzles or mystery clues but the time kept on ticking fast which made us more nervous. But somehow, combining our different sets of skills, collaborating as a team, we managed to escape and placed ourselves on the 2^nd to complete the game with around 5 minutes left out of the given 60 minutes timing. Focus on what’s in front of you and think a little bit out of the box to successfully escape.
We then took selfies shots with the props on the side (some merchandise are for sale too). After our group photo shots, we continued our conversations with other Unilocalers.
The location of Escape Hunt (Sydney) was pretty accessible and there are a number of carparks and food places (depends on what time you come) around the area.
We also completed surveys to provide them with what our expectations were. Definitely good place for birthday parties, team building events and activities with friends and families. There are 3 different theme escape rooms to choose from to fit your preference. The modern interior design and the rooms’ decorations were inviting to the eyes as well.
Thanks Ben and Christal for organizing and putting up a successful event. We did leave the place with a sense of completion and increased curiosity for more future escape games. Thanks for the great night!
