My cravings for homemade dumplings and buns were more than met!

Neat brand new dumpling joint which opened today. Having determined they were not open for breakfast I staked it out until the shutters went up and pounced like an overweight tabby. It’s like Din Tai Fung’s mini me. The design is a bit Mr Wong with really cool mah Jong style wooden tiles. Saw orchids being delivered and some people giving flowers which must be a good luck thing. Ordered …um… Dumplings? Verdict — I think I have a new favourite address. Handmade buns, handmade dumpers, noodles with wontons, Chinese pancakes — everything that dreams are made of, well my dreams at least. Had the chicken wontons and the wontons with spicy sauce. Got a take away because its nippy in Liverpool Lane and because I can make my own tea(Buddhas Tears) being a world class cheapskate. $ 16.50 for two beautiful dishes. And the best thing of all? They use those cardboard takeaway boxes that you always see on American movies and TV shows. I’ve been waiting years to get ‘take out’ in those boxes just like they did in LA Law and Hill St Blues and Seinfeld! And the Godfather Pt 1(when they ‘go to the mattresses’) and Tom Cruise when he has to work out how to slot Jack Nicholson and score with Demi Moore. I expect to be the Duke of this place very soon.
