Bottle O Taylor Square

Old guy who works here has no customer service skills and is quite honestly a grumpy old bastard.
I put two bottle of Coopers Red on the counter after selecting them from the fridge at 4 bucks a pop.
«$ 9.20» he said. I handed over my money assuming I had temporarily gone mad and misread the price.
I took my change and checked the price tag. I hand’t gone mad, it still read $ 4.
«Just so you know the price is $ 4 on the tag» I said.
«Well it’s not» he rudely retorted.
The normal response in this situation is to say «Sorry, it has been incorrectly marked — let me give you a refund».
The money was not the issue (I’m not one to argue over dollars and cents) and I would of happily said «no worries» if this was the case… the issue here is the complete lack of manners.
I will still shop here as it’s convenient. But I will be ensuring that I thoroughly check prices before handing over my money.

I heart this bottle shop. Who doesn’t love Disco Fridays (there is an actual disco ball and they play awesome music) along with free wine and cheese tastings.
Beer and Wine are expensive — but let’s be honest… we’re in Sydney — where isn’t it?

After my birthday entourage and I disembarked from Shady Pines one Friday in route to a house party, we swung into this Bourke Street Bottle-​O to pick up the necessary libations. Now, how often have you been to a bottle shop in between bars and wished that you wouldn’t have to simmer down your disco dancing ways in the interest of being «appropriate?» Well at Bottle-​O you don’t have to! With several different disco balls twirling and lovable Beatles tunes blaring from the speakers, this shop begs for a dance party. And let me tell you, dance party we did! With the owner jamming along behind the counter and every last one of us clutching our beverage of choice, we tore that place up like it was 1999. With a great selection, moderate prices and the sweetest vibe of all time, definitely hit up Bottle-​0 next time you’re feeling thirsty AND feisty.

Bottle O Taylor Square knows how to party. They know a good bottle of wine. What’s more, they bring you olives and cheeses. Basically, they’re the ideal mate.
Whilst the bottle shop goes off most weekends, the biggest party of the year comes at Sydney Mardi Gras, when the shop (just off Oxford St) switches to disco mode complete with lasers, disco balls, pumping beats and short, short, short shorts. Go there to stock up early in the day or pop by for top-​ups later in the night, but be careful — photographic evidence of the previous years’ Mardi Gras plasters the walls in the front of the shop.
Every other day of the year Bottle O still satisfies. The deli shaves ham fresh off the bone and their anchovy olives are the perfect pairing with a good Pinot Gris. The staff there really know their wine and are happy to help you out, and most weekends they host wine and occasional cheese tastings too. Whilst prices might be marginally higher than at your average liquor super-​store, Bottle O feels as if it’s run by a couple of your mates. Locals are known by name, and after a couple of visits you will be too. You might even get the chance to name one of their new pet fish — just don’t ask what happened to the last one.
